A.I. - How does your CVEC pipe (the Pro-Hobby one on E-bay) work? I want to use with my new OS 12tz on my R40. How do you think that will work?

From everyone whos run one its very similiar to other top pipes, its difference is it gets on power faster and the stinger and pipe will last longer.

If you want I can also polish your pipe to a mirror before sending it out. Let me know.

Had a decent run last Saturday, TQed and got the track record, in the open class and I was running a 1 horsepower Novarossi CX12 vs the latest JP motor!!

The brake worked perfectly as well, absolutely no fade. I am using the HPI optional brake disc and Futaba 9451 throttle servo. The track has 3 hard stops in a 17 second lap, and it performed perfectly the whole way. I had it set to just before lockup.

The scary part is the car is basically a stock 2005 R40.

It has these hopups:

Mugen clutch
HPI optional brake disc

The only setup changes are a solid front diff, silver front springs and 2 degree rear toe. Seems to suit the parkinglot track perfectly.

That is great news to hear AMG. This goes to show that horsepower is not everything!! Were you running any diff oil in the rear?

thanks Jason

Good work. Are you one of the few or only r40 at your track? Ah you run a parkinglot track too? Got any pics , sorry if you posted them before. I just cant remember or didnt see.

So what are your impressions now on the 2004 vs 2005. Also is your track the same setup , if so how much lower are your times now?

Take care.

I am using 30K in the rear. Seems to be fairly standard unless you really need rear grip......

There are some pics somewhere, need to dig them up. It is definately what you would consider to be a parking lot track.

The 2005 just seems to be better weighted allowing you to toss the car into corners harder and it will continue to hang on. You overall seem to be able to drive it faster and harder without it letting go.

Unfortunately the track layout has changed since I drove a 2004 there so the laptimes are not comparable.............
