Smaller Maxx truck? Stampede replacement?

Kinda goofy name imo.

Just got an email about this. Not sure what it is.

Body looks cartoonish and front looks like it has a high front bumper, a huge gap and a lower front bumper. Is this updated stampede? Plastic shocks and axles - seems like it should be competing in $299 - 319 range.

Looks like a slightly improved Stampede 4x4 VXL with some Maxx features. But $480???

I like it. I personally like the look. Curious how it'll compete that price range. Looks like a scaled down Maxx... Would have been nice to be sub $400, but I'd put it on a list to give it a closer look.

OK, looking at the chassis and wheelbase, it's a Rustler 4x4 chassis with some MT tires on it. It also looks like slightly raised up front/rear bulkheads, but it's hard to tell for sure. So size-wise it's in-between a Stampede 4x4 and Slash 4x4.

Good to see a new motor and steel spur, I will probably buy one of these!

I think it’s closer to the stampede 4x4 based on the bulkheads and servo and receiver box mount, just stretched .8 inch. But uses rustler 4x4 shock towers and center drive shaft.

Wonder if this name was inspired by Hoss Cartwright from the Bonanza TV show. Not to be a party pooper but wouldn't it be beautiful Poetic Justice if the movie studio that created that show sued Traxxas for copyright infringement 😁

How many monster trucks do we really need? There's a lack of imagination going on.

Comparison

Wheelbase:
Maxx: 12.96"
Hoss: 11.62"
Stampede 4x4: 10.83"

Width:
Maxx: 14.5"
Hoss: 13.1" (gonna be easy to traction-roll...)
Stampede 4x4: 13.4"

Tire Size:
Maxx: 5.51"
Hoss: 5.3"
Stampede 4x4: 4.8"

Power System:
Maxx: 540XL + VXL-3S
Hoss: 540XL + VXL-3S
Stampede 4x4 VXL: Velineon 3500 + VXL-3S

Has the plastic shocks, but no lower guards for them like the Stampede 4x4 has.

They advertise a "torque biasing center drive" but I don't see a center diff, so I don't know what that means. Did they build some slip into the prop shaft?

Looks like a solid drivetrain, but with the same weak shocks, I don't think it's a great idea. It's basically a 1/10 stunt truck.

i checked the exploded view posted on their site, it looks like a cheaper version of their 6780 center diff assembly, using the same steel spur but plastic cup instead of a metal one. As long as it’s quality plastic and internal gears it should be fine, heck my 4s teknos use steel spurs with plastic diff cups.

and I agree on the shocks, for 480 they should just throw in the GTR shocks out of the ultimate. By comparison the maxx is a lot more car for the money.

I am also curious about what "torque-biasing center diff" means.

Here's the screenshot from the Traxxas webpage:

Based on the text at the bottom, it just seems like a regular center diff filled with heavy fluid. I think I saw somewhere that the 6780 has 1M weight diff oil, which is very heavy for a truck this size. While I do prefer center diffs myself, I am not sure there is a big performance gain here over a slipper.
