Losi 8ight starter box motors?
In need of suggestions...
I burned up my 8ight starter box motors on a new engine today...
Does anyone have suggestions on replacements??
Much appreciated...

I just did mine the other day, and it was very easy to do. I used these
motors for there cost and there strength.

The Traxxes Titains 550 are popular too when guys convert, but these are stronger, and less $$. The Traxxes are around 24.00 each
Make sure you get the "Team Losi starter motor pulley set" too. you'll
need them. Much easier then taking off the old ones if you even can..

I have a losi box and the solid blue OFNA box with the larger motors. The ofna motors are amazing in comparison. Maybe you can get two of them.

The ofna motors aren't that pricey...
Buy one and use the second losi motor as an idler to keep the belt tight.
There is some modifications needed to the losi bulkhead but with a dremel it's a snap!

Allelectronics.com sells the DCM-267 motors which have more torque than the stock Losi units and are physically a direct replacement fit. As another poster here recommended, buy a new set of pulleys versus trying to take the old ones off of the Losi motors.

I drilled and tapped the Losi pulleys with a 5-40 tap. And used 5-40 set-screws. They are press fit on too the Losi motors. When you remove the pulleys they lose their press fit. So if you were to put them on different motors, the fit would be not near as tight. After drilling and tapping the brass hex, the black plastic gear can be put back on. Worked like a charm for me.
But the easier way would be to buy new ones and press them on. LOL.

i used a Gel cell for a couple years with No issues.....although i would replace it 1/2 way through the season tho to Ensure i would'nt have any problems.....at 17$ its cheep insurance....im onto Lipo now....cant beat it imo...specially when ur running Lipo in EVERYthing else.
mmm 16volts....i could forsee some new motor's in the near future. 
...55T integy's...why not.

LOL. I had been trying several different motors in my Losi box. But I came to realize the batteries I was using were toasting the motors. So I had to step down in battery size.
Was using Two 6,000mah 7.4v lipos. They were putting out 120 amps
Now using One 2,100mah 14.8v lipo. It only puts out 40 amps.
So the only thing I lost was a bit of capacity, lost the weight, and the constant worry about weather the motors were gonna last through the weekend. I was simply putting too much juice to the motors and frying them. If I had used smaller mah rated lipo packs i'm sure they would have been fine from the beginning. So for now I'm back to the stock Losi motors (which I broke-in) and one 14.8 2100mah lipo. Now I just have to wait to see if there are any more problems.
I know some people use the gell cells and they can leave the box sit in one place all day long. But many people don't have that luxury. And if you attend larger races, you have to move your stuff so the next set of racers can use pit lane. So having the light weight lipo in the box is a god send.
