Brushless ESCs Question
I am looking for a Brushless ESC that can control brushed motors (just in case) that can also program the throttle so i can bring it down to some percentage of the max if need be. The Sidewinder ESC for Castle creations seems to have this adjustment for reverse but i cant tell if you can adjust the forward throttle.
Does anyone run a sidewinder and if so is can you program throttle reduction into it?
What other ESC options do i have out there that can accomplish what i am looking for?

Not aware of any. Usually done with the radio I believe.

Most controllers let you reduce "punch" which usually is an amp limiter. As far as actual speed reduction you do it with the EPA on your radio. The reason most people prefer to get the appropriate motor for whatever racing they might be doing is that dialing back throttle EPA tends to alter the powerband of the motor.
Start with an 8.5 Novak or LRP in your 4wd--you will not regret it. Its not overly fast but still has PLENTY of rip. I suppose the equivalent Mamba would be around a 4600 if you want to go that route.

We run one of the Castle Creations Sidewinders in a 13.5 class with a Novak sensored motor, running sensorless. The throttle and everything else is infintely adjustable with the programmer.

Dragula - Thanks for the confirmation. I had already decided to go with the sidewinder based on price, but its good to know I will have those adjustability options if I need them.

You will need it. Cogs with the insane roll outs we run. Had to tinker with it to get smooth starts.

Dragula - What exactly is cogging? Ive seen it mentioned several times but have no clue what it means. All my previoue experience is with nitro so these electric motors are pretty new to me.

When you give it throttle, it stutters and bucks until it gets going. It can be pretty bad with a 17.5 or 13.5.
