Default 2015 RC Formula1 F1 Series – Melbourne (Jan-Apr)

We are holding a 3 round F1 series from January to March 2015.

Each round will be held at a different club track with no dropped rounds (ie; points from all 3 rounds are added together to determine results).

F1 Rules

F1 National Rules with the following additional restrictions:

o Ride R1 control tyres. One set for all 3 rounds purchased as part of entry fee.
o Control motor. Motor purchased as part of entry fee.

Scrutineering

Cars will be scrutineered at each round.

Trophies

• 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the series
• Concourse

Trophies will be presented at the final round.

Dates

• Round 1 is at MPRCCC (Mornington Peninsula) on Sunday 25 Jan - 10am
• Round 2 is at SERCCC (Dandenong) on Saturday 21 Feb - Track open from 2pm, racing starts 3pm
• Round 3 is at Geelong RC Car Club on Sunday 8 Mar - 10am

Control Tyres

One set of control tyres will be marked and provided to each entrant. If a tyre / wheel becomes unusable during the competition then another pair may be substituted, at the organisers discretion, but a points penalty will be incurred. The new pair must be provided by the entrant and they must be new in packet (un-opened) with the correct part number and must be marked by the organiser before being used in the event.

Control Tyres for F104 and other cars with a 14mm hex (all cars except FGX and HPI F10) - $54 for one set front and rear:

Ride R1 Front wheels/tyres - pre-glued - Ride part number 26022
Ride R1 Front wheels/tyres - pre-glued - Ride part number 26023

Control Tyres for 3Racing FGX / HPI F10 (12mm hex) - $44 for one set front and rear:

Ride R1 Front wheels/tyres - pre-glued - Ride part number 26024
Ride R1 Front wheels/tyres - pre-glued - Ride part number 26025

Control Motor

Control motors will be marked and may not be opened.

Motors provided at cost.

The control motor is: Thunder Power 21.5 TPM-540A215 and will be available at the discounted price of $82.50

The benefit of this motor is that it is a recognised brand with proven reliability and is expected to be a competitive motor in normal F1 competition after the series. It will be supplied by Metro Hobbies who have confirmed supply will be available.

Entry Fee

Entry fee $30 (to cover trophy costs)
+ control motor cost $82.50

= $112.50

If you are ordering control tyres then add $54 for an F104 (total $166.50) or $44 for an FGX (total $156.50).

You may order extra tyres and motors if you wish by paying the appropriate amount. We regret that we are not able to hold additional tyres and motors in stock "just in case" but you may buy extras if you wish. Only one motor and one set of tyres may be used without incurring a penalty (refer to the Tyres section above for how this works). We will have one additional motor on hand so that if a motor fails "out of the box" it will be replaced at no charge.

If you are providing your own tyres they must be new in packet (un-opened) control tyres with the part numbers specified above.

You may not supply your own Thunder Power motor. This is to ensure that all motors are marked and cannot be tampered with in any way.

Entry fee must be pre-paid to allow us to pre-order the motors and tyres.

In addition entrants will pay the normal club race fee from each host track.

Entries are Being Taken:

Email your entry to: [email protected]

Paypal to [email protected]

Because of Christmas if you are buying tyres from us as part of your entry then you must enter and pay by this Sunday 14 December at 11pm. We need to order the tyres on Monday 15 Dec to ensure they are here in time.

You may enter and pay after this Sunday but you will need to provide your own tyres. They must be new in packet (un-opened) control tyres with the part numbers specified above.

Awesome well organised series this year. Count me in.

FYI on motor, the Thunder Power 21.5 is a great motor. I have also tried the hobbyking motor and it seemed reliable and provides a good price point.

Are you doing teams? Concourse for the series at the first round only?

Thanks for the feedback on the motors.

Teams weren't well supported this year. However, if more people want to do them then I'd be happy to track points. Say, minimum of 4 team entries in order to have a Team Championship. Teams of 2. Cars to be painted in team colours. Winning team gets a medal per team member. Also happy to consider any ideas for making team entries more popular.

Yes, Concourse is judged at the first Round and trophy awarded then.

Hello,

Good to see news for 2015. Thanks for all your work organising this.

I like the idea of the track star to keep costs down.

If a competitor already owns a thunderpower, can they run that one instead of buying one?

Good to have you on board Mr Weasel.

Good question about people who already own one. One of the reasons for a control motor is to make sure people don't open them and change rotors, add shims or make other modifications. Thereby keeping the playing field as level as practical. The screws that hold the end bell on the motor will be marked so that any tampering will be obvious. This marking needs to be done on a brand new motor by us before motors are randomly distributed. So unfortunately if someone already has one they won't be able to use it.

In terms of which motor to use maybe we ask those who have pre-entered to vote to choose which motor is used.

Pre-entries so far:

David Stevens
Chris Bismire
John Papagrigoriou
Will Moore
Michael Juttner

We'd wait for a few weeks before asking for a vote on the motors in order to give others a chance to pre-enter. To pre-enter post here, email [email protected] or PM me. Pre-entering is an intention to compete but is not yet a commitment. So get in touch

With 9 pre-entries it's time to take a vote on the control motors and tyres.

An email has been sent to all pre-entrants asking for their vote as follows:

Control Motor:

A. Thunder Power @ $82.50
or
B. Turnigy Trackstar @ around $45
or
C. No control motor

Control Tyres:

A. Ride R1's front and Rear
Or
B. Control Rear Ride R1's - front wheels/tyres are open
Or
C. No control tyres

Voting closes 5pm Sunday 7 December.

Majority rules.

If you'd like to vote then pre-enter by sending me a PM or email [email protected]

Dates and venue for each Round are now confirmed.

Entries are now being taken.

Please carefully re-read the first post of this thread as some details have changed.

If you are ordering tyres as part of your entry fee then you must enter and pay by this Sunday 14 December.

If you are supplying your own tyres (subject to the rules specified in the first post on this thread) then you must enter and pay by next Wed 17 December.

We would have liked to allow additional time for entries but unfortunately with Christmas the tyre and motor suppliers need this lead time in order to ensure we have these controlled items in time for Round 1.

So get those entries in!!
