yes and no.
if u dont plan to race competitively, this is one of the best cars u can get outta the box(except maybe the Schumacher)
do get the SS version.
it wont ever be as competitive as a V1R or mugen or serpent.look around for a smart deal,i got mine for US$300,including everything i need.

yeah its a good car 2 bash around with, i got the rs4 3 ss
its good value, i got it a while ago from japan, it cost abt $500AUD not including postage and handling
they r pretty tuff nuts and pretty quick
generally a good buy
just a point to consider, im having trouble with gettn parts for it cuz lotsa of hooby shops are c*ckheads and dont wanna deal with DSI and dont stock HPI
so its a bit of a hunt gettn somethign as simple as a spur..

I have 17 HPI cars...I'd trade EVERY one of them for a Nitro Tc3...
and I have 2 already..they're easier to work on...offer more value for the dollar.......and are WAY faster on any racetrack(parking lot or permanent).....if you INSIST on an HPI,I'll sell you one of mine..

HPI RS4 2
I bought a HPI RS4 2.... Im extremely happy with it.
Its my first car and its so simple to get it running.
I currently just run at a local club and i find it rather competitive in the class that i run.
I still even just have a single speed installed.
For a beginner, i highly recommend this type of model.

One thing i do recommend though, get the radio gear out of the car that came with it, purchase a good new set up....

I recommend you to get a good enough car. After a month you will get used to the car and will start to want more from it. The HPI cars aren't very durable and aren't very competitive. Even though it is your first car don't get the cheapest one you can find because you will be stuck with it for some time. When you start spending lots of money on hop ups to give it more strenght or speed it won't be easy to get rid of it. Also it is very hard to put a SG crank engine in the HPI's and the good engines have a SG. I gave you my advice for the coice you are on your own
