Fort myers did this and it help a lot. Tire wear went from 2.5 - 3mm in a 8 minute run to less than 1 and traction was better also.

I am pretty sure, dragging tire is one of the things Jeff is going to do.

Pardon my ignorance, but dragging a tire seems like a half-ass way to prepare a track for a national event. I'm sure it gets the job done, but there must be a more suitable permanent surface that can be used for a track. What do you do if it rains really hard? Won't it wash away?
For a permanent track to have such bad tire wear, racers must be spending a small fortune on tires to practice and race.

Sealers have fine sand mixed in. When the sealer is applied, the top coat has a grainy, uneven texture which is barely discernible visually. Dragging tires takes away the top layer of fine sand and smoothes out the texture. Kind of like what sand paper does to a coat of primer.
I definitely agree, this will help.

Yes, dragging the tires takes the sand out of the top layer. It readly doesn't do much for putting rubber on the track. It did wonders for Ft Myers! A 30lb tire vs a 2lb car.....it gets the job done Looking forward to this race!

The track will be fine for the nats.Tire wear was only on the rears.I used the same fronts for 15 miniutes of practice, and ran three 10 min. qualifiers on the same set of 40 fronts.
I tried some different pullys, and it reduced some of the rear wear, but I got just a little more on the front. I am sure you will spend more in hotels, than you do on tires. Unless you live there. then you should be able to afford tires.

how close to the track can you get a pit trailer? I didn't see it on the diagram where trailer parking was
