I did not notice much difference though. I run rear +.75 as well. I think it will be more pronounced if you move the rear hinge pins outside which changes roll center. I do this on my nitro cars as well. My xb9e I run +0 hubs (I can control the throttle much better on electric thats why) but the nitro xb9 has +2 and its a lot more stable cornering than the electric without the extra width.

Curious how many people are running chassis protectors? This is the first time I've had a car with an aluminum chassis. I ran a protector on it the first time out but its already become a hassle. I run on an outdoor clay track. Is it just not worth worrying about? Do the aluminum chassis hold up pretty well?

Don't run a protector. With 4wd running such low ride heights already, its just gonna muck up your setup if you copied a pro setup. Wear is not very high the xray aluminums the same grade as their 1/8 buggy so its really tough. Mine only shows minimal scuffing at the kickup area and no scratches. Track was indoor clean clay though.

+1. I've gone to +.75 front and -.75 rear. It really took the edginess out of the car.

I'm running 17.5 blinky as well. 75/32 and it seems to run fine!

Interesting about the diff oils - I'll give it a shot as I have rear traction issues

We run on a hard packed clay surface that has medium to high traction and is watered lightly a couple times throughout the day. It feels that the car is stiff, as it does bounce a bit, and the rear end is always kind of loose. My diff oils are 7 front, 5 rear. I have tried lighter shock oils, but still the 3 hole pistons. My latest oils were 32/27.5 F/R. I widened the rear end .75 per side.

I admit my setup skills are lacking. Got spoiled with the B44.2 which is easy to setup. I simply always wanted an xray kit, since they seem like super quality. It was an excellent build, but just trying to get that suspension dialed in. My next idea is to move the rear lower shock mount to the inner hole location.

I ran both cars last night. The xray was a handful for me. Both car run 6.5T motors, but the xray seemed much quicker, probably due to the low drag drivetrain. Just lacking keeping the tires firmly planted to the clay.

It's a keeper for sure. So any setup tips are welcome and would be gratefully received.

Mark
lift your rear diff oil to 7.

A few question
what 3 hole pistons are you using and brand of shock oil and air temperature.

I run on a similar surface, you can find my setup on the xray site. Just do not view them in the pdf format. Some of the values change (ackermann, offset and caster block setting).

Shows them as vented. Is there a bladder in kit?

Just keep dropping your oils each run until you feel it's right. You may only be 2.5-5wt out. With each drop in oils put the 2 dot spring back on again.

Are you do the Australian Nats next week?

Do you have to drill out the kimborough spur to get them to fit?

From my understanding, no. They are similar to the AE bleeder caps. Just a screw in the cap for bleeding out excess oil and getting the rebound you want. I dont have them and cant justify the cost right now. The stock ones don't leak on mine so no reason for me to change.

Chris,

I am using the 1.3 kit pistons, associated oil. Air temp probably low/mid 60's

I will try 7k diff oil

Thanks!

Chris,

Moving the shocks to the inside arm location requires adding another shim limiter under the pistons, correct?

That's a pretty big track. I'd probably go with a 6.5 or so. Just depends on your skill though. If you are newer you may even go with an 8.5.
