My advice get a new starter box, mugen or ofna truggy and give your gell cell away to the first sucker who will take it off your hands. I use to have problems turning over my jp mod with my gell cell, switched to 14.8 volt lipo and all of a sudden there is no problem, same starter box and same heat up method.

Dont blame the motor, being tight is a good thing. If you dont like tight engines I will gladly trade you my 6 gallon hyper 21 motor.

Dude I don't mean to be rude but I don't beat around the bush. Put that POS box you have on E-Bay and get a Ofna Dual 775. I'm not saying your box won't work, just saying that I use two $15 1500mah battery packs in my Ofna and it cranks me all day long at the track without needing a charge.
I put two Venom 3000 packs in it one day and if I could have put tires and an ESC on it I would have raced it!!!

N/m

Im gonna try getting a cheapo box on ebay.

Like a used Ofna Chrome top with a single 750 motor.

I need to keep my current box for the on-road so if I can get a used box for $30ish I will be happy.

I would urge you to stay away from that one. I had one and didnt like it so I got rid of it. Right now the 2 boxes that are great are the mugen box and the ofna truggy box. I know both are expensive but they are well worth the money. I also have this box(link below) and it works good but if you can swing it the truggy box or mugen box is the way to go.

Oh yeah also go 14.8 volt not a 12 volt gel cell. I like lipo but whatever you choose go 14.8 volt that will help.

Buy the Mugen box, you wont regret it. Its compact, powerful, and after assembling it...amazing, haha.

You don't need a new box. Start the engine with the glow plug loose

I got my Chrome top OFNA starter box off of e-bay for $45 plus $15 shipping, it was brand new in the box. Yes it is heavy as hell. Who cares, it doesnt weigh more than the car it starts. Once I get to the track all it does is sit in pit lane, and will start my car for over a month on a charge. Not to mention I have yet to see a motor that this thing wouldnt whirl over without the slightest hesitation.

The OFNA truggy box is just as strong, but much lighter in weight, but it is also much harder to find cheap. They are pretty expensive.

P.S. I am talking about the chrome top with the single big 750 motor in it, I have no experience with the one with the 550 motors in it.

Breaking in my novarossi as well i seem to have had more joy than you by the looks of it,

Im using the ofna truggy box 2x 775 motors with 2 x 7.2v 3700 packs

I heat the engine crankcase and head up to 220-230 then start her up

I did find i needed to lean out the needles a fair bit to get it to stay running, its wrapped up in a football sock and im getting consistent temps of 210-240 whilst running it around

perserve with it mate it will get there, im frightened how quick it is on run in its only done 3 tanks so far but it moves sharpish with only quarter throttle and every so often full to clear it out and it has plenty of oil coming out of the pipe!!!

Stick with it mate

Are you free to head up to Lester's today? LMK...I need some parts anyway, so if you can go, I'll meet you up there and help out. Also, last I was there, he had a used Ofna truggy box for $75...hella good deal, don't jump on Fleabay just yet

You guys are trashing the duratrax box when the box is plenty good.

I use the same box with 2 7.4 lipo's in it and it will turn over any motor.

Put some good batteries in it and the box has more then enough power.

So many times the starter box is blamed when it is the operator not having done the required alignment to make sure the rubber wheel is only hitting the flywheel and not scraping on the chassis.

i looked at the box/chassis, and it does it a little, but there really is no alignment on this box to make it not hit... the hole on the chassis is too tiny for it.

i just remembered I have 2 3600Mah 7.4v batteyr packs I used to use on my revo's ez start I dont use anymore, they aren't lipo, but hold a strong charge, would 3600mah be enough for a racing day for the s/b?
