Which of these 1/8 buggy?
I am in the market for a 1/8 electric buggy. I am looking to pick one up lightly used. Durability is the most important factor to me as I feel that any of these properly setup should be very competitive. Here are what I am looking at...
Mugen MBX6 eco
Losi 8ight 2.0 E
Associated RC8.2E
I could possible stretch the budget to get a MBX7 eco or 8ight 3.0 if they are really that much better.
I have a 8ight-T 1.0 converted that has proven to be tough as nails. Should I expect the same out of a 8ight 2.0 buggy? Right now I am leaning towards a Mugen because I have always heard good things and have never owned one.

The associated isn't bad and niether is a losi. I've owned both but IMO the Tekno eb48.2 is tough as nails and competitive. I can't comment on the other buggies mentioned but I think you should consider that one as well. Good luck in your search

How about a EB48? Do you know what they changes were for the EB48.2? I found a real clean EB48 roller for <$300.

As far as I know the differences are very subtle should be a good reliable car if you so choose to go that route. Plus a lot of the guys in the Tekno forums here a great with advise, setups and problem solving issues with your car

I'm going to be annoying and throw the Serpent 811 into the mix; if you can't pick between those, maybe a slightly different style chassi with a split battery (low cg) might be an interesting point of difference.

The Durango should also be considered, dual 2S layout like the Serpent buggy. However most shops do not seem to have ready parts support for either of them.
Me, I have a Durango and enjoy running it, I think my next buy will be a Tekno (and keep both) as I like the narrow layout and straight driveline.

The mugen and Ae will allow you to adjust castor without buying parts . They are all three pretty close really. I would put the Mugen at the top of my list (if that were my list) because its aggressive , well built , adjustable , and made in Japan not China.
Now the MBX6 and 7 should be pretty different from one another on the track , I understand the latter to be more stable at the expense of the aggressivness I mentioned.
My 2 cents , and it overpriced at that ...

I ended up buying a 8ight-e 3.0 out of the classified section tonight. It has a Tekin RX8/T8 2050 combo and a JR DS8717 in it. I hope I made a good choice.

I was really looking hard at the Teknos. In the end I have just been really pleased with my 8ight-t, so I decided to stick with Losi.

Tekno>Losi>AE
IMO. Never driven one but racing at my local track, and my buddies having a few also helping martial. The Tekno is almost bullet proof, you can just tell picking one up. Also seen guys literally launch their Tenko 1:8 into the driver stand and out of the track and keep going.
Losi I just like their stuff for racing, AE is more advanced racer ready but again I prefer Losi stuff. YMMV

Good choice. Pick one of the main brands and run it! You never know until you do. My only turn off from Losi is that I would have to buy new tools.
