BANZAI Motors
#7741
Hey, im just looking out for my motor peeps. I think the technology is great, but how about all the other guys out there? Id rather see Judi busy packing boxes and building motors rather than out picking up Cans off the roadway.
Did the other MFGs conspire to put the little guys out of business? I mean, Mike Reedy has got to be a bit flustered, considering he was one of the pioneers for Elec. motors.
VIVA LA BANZAI!!!!

Mike Reedy did help with some BL developments. My understanding
is that his health is not good, and he is in an assisted living
facility.
If you check this Team and Company forum, you will see tons
of OEM companies for motors and batteries already gone.
The large manufacturers of motors did not inspire the move to
BL or Lipo. In fact, most are trying their best to help OEM
companies.
We are NOT going anywhere. Everyone has to adapt at some
time or the other, and we ARE adapting. We have chosen NOT
to discuss our current plans. As you can see by the "hundreds"
of BL and Lipo threads on R/C Tech, it seems the more talk there
is, the more confusing everything gets to the normal racer.
I must say here, 2 people were absolutely awesome to us
when we first started Banzai. One was Mike Reedy, the other
was Alan Losi!
PS For you younger kids, I did NOT make a mistake, there is
another Losi besides Gil JR. and his name is Alan, one of the
first and GREATEST skate boarders ever!! Considered one of
the top 3 in the world at the time in pool skating!!

I was lucky enough to attend RCX a few years ago when I was working for a LHS. CharlieB let me crash at his place, and I got to meet the members of Static X (thats a rock band for you older folks ) Tony P from AE and several other neat industry people.
*I had recently acquired an orig. never run 6gear gold pan RC10, and on the off chance I would see some of the folks from AE, I wanted to get some autographs, so I took the manual with me.*
I lucked out. I was at the Associated booth, and not one, but 4 of the instrumental members of AE were there. I asked them to sign my book, and it was really neat to see Roger and Gene flip through the pages of the manual. I could tell it brought back memories from creating the RC10 and what would eventually lead to many many more wonderful products.
Its become my prized possession. And here it is!
The autographs of the "Founding Fathers" of Associated.

-Roger Curtis

On an old Cell phone, i have a pic of myself with all 4, it was awesome. Even a few years ago, Mike looked like he was failing then. He is an amazing person though.

Mom I just had what may have been my greatest idea ever. It seems like BL is really coming on strong, and although no regulations have been determined it is already putting companies out of business. The logical thing would be to jump on the band wagon and come out with a BL motor. I'm suggesting that you jump over the band wagon and develop the technology that will put the BL companies out of business.
Introducing the new Banzai Armature-less Motors. Not only are they far lighter than BL motors; they are cheaper as well. Imagine how much you would save if all you had to by was a motor can, its simply marvelous. This new technology drastically cuts down on rotating mass by removing the armature and all other parts necessary to turn your wheels.
Look out 2009, because Banzai Armature-less motors are going to bring the racing world to a stand still.

The best part is now that your motor is light and will not work you can run your car around the track for the race. This is great for fitness as well since you will no longer be standing watching your car go around the track! You will burn calories from that fast food breakfast, lunch and dinner you eat at the track.
Great idea Jeremy!

I love pinewood derby. My daughters school has a one day competition every year. They make you build the cars in the morning and race in the afternoon.
I won her class twice and was grand champion last year! (oops I meant she was all that!)
I picked up some of my secret wheel lube. Everyone else uses the supplied moly lube but I got something better!

This is the truck I built from scratch in college. Won the NW ASME micro Baja competion. I will say I was "doing the math" before x-factory! This was back in 93-94. It has a belt drive tranny using parts from the front end of the xx4. Used losi shocks. Just about everything else was hand built.
