I have gone thru the threads for SMC and ThunderPower and unless i missed it .Neither of them list who actual makes there batteries.Smc batteries just say made in China. This shouldn't be a big secret because i am sure that the battery company makes batteries for other companies .I would like to compare price and spec to those other companies .
So if someone knows who the actual maker is for SMC and ThunderPower batteries please post it or PM .

Linger's excellent thread on LiPo fires goes into some detail on the kinds of things that differentiate cell quality between brands. Ling is ROAR's LiPo guru.

My SMC 40C packs have been great, but one of them did swell a little. I picked up a 50C for Vegas, and the case seems like it's a little bit ill-fitting. The top half seems smaller than the bottom, or something. It's pretty minor though, and their packs always deliver on the track. Plus, SMC isn't dumb about the balancing tap, they put it out the same side as the power, which is a no-brainer. Having wires coming out of both corners sucks for touring cars.
I don't know who makes SMC's cells, but I don't care to be honest, they've been spectacular since the 28C red packs. I've read TP uses Enertech for their 40C cells. I think their cases are made by Cracker Jack.

I just got one of these packs through the post to try out,
Hmmm the case fits terribly. The edges of the bottom half don't really line up to the top.
"made in china"....... Could never have guessed
I'm sure the battery will be fine but for over $160 I would have thought it would be built properly
