The Kf2 has three motor mounting options. There's the standard motor forward, low grip option, and mid motor option. If you're looking for a rear motor option, the KR is what you want. The KR is a separate car from the KF2 and is not convertible.
As far as versatility, if your looking for a car that will work on medium grip, I personally feel the KR is your best option. The standard and low grip options are intended for carpet and turf. They lack the forward traction needed on dirt/clay. The mid motor upgrade option is viable, but in my opinion is a bandaid fix for a car that was not intended to be run on dirt.
You may still be able to find a SV2 on rctech or ebay, but that platform is no longer being developed by Schumacher. I believe Schumacher still makes parts for the Sv2, but it's a matter of time before they discontinue.

Has anyone put a different brand front hubs on there car ? I'm sure it's not a problem but I'm not really liking the small and different sizes of the front hub bearings, they seem really small compared to any other car I've owned. Do you have to replace the smaller bearings more often and are they more fragile ?

The KF pucks are what you want for the KF2.

I know this has probably been asked and answered in this tread, but I really don't want to plow through 600+ posts.
What is a good starting point for gearing with 17.5 motor? Was thinking 71/34 to start.

If I remember correctly, I had mine at 71/28, but my track is small to medium size with lots of turns and a few doubles and triples. I'd start there and go higher.

What type of spur gear did you use? Also I would have preferred your MM Conversion for what it's worth!
