Very interesting topic.
I think if you have a 1-way pulley at each 3 main shaft on other side will gives you better in all these three engine power distributed to the rear wheel. It doesn't matter which engine engeage 2nd speed.
But one thing is the rear 1/8 tyre gives enought traction?

You cant run 135mph because the worlds quickest nitro rc car ran 134.4mph and it wasa record so who ever said that it will go 135mph is lying

The highest recorded speed last year was 161 but that didnt count either

They normally chunk from the side so I will make them rounded so only the middle of the tyre is full diameter.
If this doesnt work I will try to find a steel belted tyre that is the same dia and glue the tread section onto the foam.
The other option is rally Game tyres with a large rim and small cross section solid rubber tyre. They look promising.
Other than that there are polyurothene tyres molded to solid aluminium wheels made for roller coasters but they dont have the grip

hey i know what tyres you could use i have seen some tyres that are made from carbon fibre and i suppose you could somehow put foam no there

Hey Ziggy, I love this custom stuff. When I use multiple engines, I try and keep them the same, same engine, same clutches, pinions etc. Then all ya gotta worry about is the tuning of the engine's to try and get them in "sync" with each other. Having different engines will cause you quite a few headaches!
Also having 3x 2speeds is gonna cause you alot more frustration.
I'm in the last steps of completing a similar project( 3x engines, not for speed records) and instead, I'm running 1x 2speed with single pinions and spurs on the extra 2 engines. You might have less problems doing it this way.
Just my 2cents worth.
Here's a pic so you can see what I'm on about.
(The 3rd engine wasn't on the chassis yet, but you can tell where it would go.
Also having 3x 2speeds is gonna cause you alot more frustration.

Your project looks cool, have you got any more pics?
I looked at using only one 2nd gear clutch with all 3 engines powering the same shaft but the load on the 2nd speed clutch is too much and it will slip like mad.
I used the clutch shoe weight, the centrifugal force and the friction force on the 2nd speed gear and calulated that the shoe will slip with around 1.5 times the power available with one engine.
When I tried running the car with one engine the engine drive clutch slipped so much the heat meted the spur gears. I even increased the weight of the clutch shoes by inserting 4mm grup screws in the holes to double the engagement force and it still slipped.
I dont think I will have any trouble with 3 x 2 speeds. As the first one changes it accelerates the car and the other engines speed up and this will kick in the other 2 2nd gears. Of course I will try to get them to change together but I dont think it will matter.
What I would like to do is have the 2nd speed gear on a one way bearing. this will allow an engine to go faster than the others if it wants to.
I'm glad to see somebody else looking at multiple engines. There is a lot to learn and its good to discuss this stuff

Im by no means an expert on this. But, wild tiger, it seems to me that your second and third engines and wasting power. The power wont pass from one engine to the other, you have to have all engine connected to the transmission, and on your project, they are not. Again, Im not an expert, and I provably missed something, but...
