That will do fine. I have also seen people take some polycarb and make a little shelf too. Some RX are just a touch too big for everything to fit inside.

Most everything from the 3.0 was carried over from the 2.0.... so I would think so. There are some specifics but those parts wont be around forever.

Thanks Jerm13,

I was having a look, seem some of the 2.0 parts below arent even listed on amain site anymore. So i went to 3.0 manual for the part number.

*says compatible with 2.0
http://www.amain.com/rc-cars/team-lo...242013/p292621

Can anyone confirm these below will work with 2.0?
---
*doesnt list compatible with 3.0

Anyone think of anything else to stock up on besides the obvious arms etc?

All those are direct fit on the 2.0. I personally don't like the 3.0 hinge pins. I found a handful of gold 2.0 ones on E-bay for cheap and stocked up. The king pins....never lost or bent one in 10 years of running Losi's. The outer hinge pins are good to have a spare just incase. The gear cases now come in a set of front and rear instead of individualy like they used to.

Wouldn't be a bad thing to have a set of front knuckles and rear hubs as spares. A handful of screws nuts and bolts in various sizes, but tires ( if you are racing) will be what you will need most of. Different compounds and tread patterns. That's the main thing people spend money one.

Good luck.

OH.... and if you don't already have one, get the Gen 3 tray. Way better than the 2.0 one.

Thanks for the info

Yeah I got the gen 3 tray, im just making a list of parts of the 2.0 to stock up that doesnt carry over to the 3.0.

I want to run the 2.0 as a cheap basher now forever without forcing me to upgrade it to a 3.0.

Will be getting a 3.0 in a month or two for racing.

just picked up a nice 2.0 rtr buggy. It has the gen III radio tray on it but other than that it is stock. anything else I need to add to make it race capable? What is the best lipo receiver battery for it? It currently has stock rtr servos. If I were to upgrade them, what servos should I go with? Thanks.

There are a couple ways to go with this.

1. First, get the aluminum shock caps and bottom caps to keep the shocks from coming apart. The RTR ones are plastic and break easily.
Next would be shock towers. The RTR ones are stamped aluminum and not very strong.
Then the Gen 3 radio tray. Since you want to get new servo's, I would do this at the same time.
Then as parts wear out, replace them.....

2. There are some good 3.0 floating around. I don't know how much racing you want to do, but it may be cheaper to pick one of those up instead of dropping coin to upgrade and RTR. Could come out to about the same amount of money anyway....

3. Drive it the way it is. Replace parts as they break and wear out. This is the cheapest option since you pretty much have everything to start with anyway.

Servos
There are a lot of servo companies out there. KoPropo, HiTec, Savox, Orion, Spektrum and the list goes on. Since you want to run a LiPo, you will need ones that are rated at 7.4v or HV servos. Both servos should be at least 200 oz/in. Maybe more for the steering. Speed will be up to you. I advise about .15 or faster for both.

RX battery

Dynamite makes a LiPo that is specific for the Losi radio box. As well as LRP and ProTek. They will do just fine and cost about $30-35.

Good luck.

I’m bringing this thread back to life because I have a few questions. My LHS has a brand new sealed in box Losi 8ight 2.0 race roller - I believe it’s a buggy.. I have always wanted a buggy, but more recently looked at finding a truggy instead. I haven’t been able to find a good used truggy roller that’s within my budget of around $150-200. I have an engine already, and will order a pipe and header, servos, and find a used bump box. Final investment would be around $350ish which is where my budget is at. The 2.0 race roller is $350 NIB, and that would need exhaust, tires, and electronics.. I could get the buggy, but have to wait for several months to have the cash for the exhaust and electronics, etc. Am I better to get the 2.0 buggy and wait for parts or do I wait to find what I ultimately want which is a truggy roller? Is the 2.0 buggy race roller worth $350 NIB?

No its not, not anymore. I'd give him 150 tops for a 2.0 even nib. I have one so I know them.

Fair enough. Where would the best place be to look for a reasonable condition used truggy roller? I am a bit of a Losi guy, so that’s where I’d be comfortable - especially since my LHS stocks Losi parts. I just don’t have $500+ to throw at something right now. My other thought was to modify one of my LST2s to be more truggy like, but that defeats the idea of using this old Nova .21 that I have that everyone says isn’t worth much and I have a pile of money into (stupid impulse buy).
