Saddle packs will be in by the end of the month. Not sure if anyone will carry them in Australia but you can get them from US online shops.

Is the 5000 with the wires coming out the top going to be roar approved in time for vegas? I know it seems stupid, but yeah...

Even though I already have an SMC 5000 with the wires coming out of the side expected to arrive any day, I would still buy and want to run the new one at the IIC. Top located wires should be less prone to damage at their new more protected location...and would be safer. It will have no other performance advantage and the same running part number...per Danny.

Well that part number is on the approved list..... so all should be good... I hope...

Yeah I understand there is no performance gain.. I just didn't want to go up to tech and be told I can't run that pack ...

Aren't the 5000 and 4000 already ROAR approved. They are on the ROAR approved list as of FEB. 08. Am I missing something here?

Because I am looking at picking up two very little used 4000 packs and I thought that they are already approved.

The ones that are currently out are ROAR legal, and on the list.. The question is.. Beings they are changing the case on the new 5000's if they were still approved.. I'd hope so, but these big races can get pretty picky.

SMC has already been in touch with ROAR on the issue. The cells themselves are NOT changing...Just where the wires come out of the case and the color. The part number will remain the same. There will not need to be a resubmission for approval although ROAR will get a pack to see and make note of the changes.

Matt 93. I think Danny posted the Saddle pack will be 4900mah and 22C. No special charging required because they are saddle packs.

The pack I tested at 35 amps has 515 seconds , 7.34 average voltage and 7.2 IR. I think this is pretty good especially when you consider the length of the jumper wire.

The saddle pack will be 4900/25C.

The top wire cases will use the same cells since we were asked to release the wires on top so we decided to do so but the part numbers wil remain the same as this will be a running change.
