Bashing or Racing?

For bashing they seem good for the price. Not a lot of parts availability though.

Racing, I wouldn't recommend them.

They're decent from what I've seen. They're not complete junk but not up to par with other name brands. No hobbyshops really stock the parts either. I'd recommend him a Traxxas truck. I believe he'd be happier. They're a good quality and every hobbyshop has stuff for Traxxas!

There is cheap and then there is really cheap...

Honestly I would stay away from them. From what I have seen, you break something, no parts, and in most cases no compatibility with other parts. If I was you I would tell your friend to save a little longer and pick up a Traxxas, HPI, or Losi. All make quality vehicles for bashing with, and parts and upgrade parts are readily available.

I wouldn't even wipe my dogs butt with a redcat manual. Complete junk.

I`d recommend a truck from the Hpi Savage line. For bashing these are super durable. Everything is made from very flexible plastic so the parts can soak up a lot of hits and crashes before breaking. Also there is a huge aftermarket for them, endless possibilties for upgrades (same goes for Traxxas trucks). Stock parts are easy to find and pretty cheap.

I have only destroyed 1 suspension arm and cracked a fuel tank on mine.
Everything else has been regular maintenance. The truck is now 8 years old

I would also consider an older truggy from Ofna and HB.

As long as you go with the 1/8 Redcat stuff he will be fine. Their trucks are plenty durable. Anyone who says they are complete junk probably never even owned one.

You can find an "I Hate (insert company name) thread on every forum and there is never a shortage of people who NEED to trash them.
