ive heard my some people that these motors are really bad like they allways overheat and i heard they break extremly easy. is this true? is this a good motor for a tc3? thanks

If you are talking about the Novak 5800, then what you have heard is Not true at all. The motor is practically a sealed can and I use it on many of my Off-Road kits. It requires hardly any maintenance (maybe a few drops of oil to lubricate the bearings every 20-30 runs). What used to overheat was not the motor itself, but the ESC. This was a problem when the system was first released well over a year and a half ago. That problem was quickly fixed by Novak's engineers & along with their fantastic customer service, they took care of any product that had this problem by replacing it with an updated Brushless Motor System (better software, etc.). I own a handful of them.... and just love them! No need to worry about cutting the Com, buying and replacing brushes, no need to buy/replace springs, needing a lathe, etc. My run times with each pack are much longer too since the motors are more effecient. Furthermore, I can throw pack after pack at it and not worry. More time running at the track.... then working in pits.

the best motor combo i have seen at my local track is a hacker 6turn with a uforce 75 speedy.

the novaks are slow.

My Brushless Yok keeps right up and passes an RTR NTC3... Pissed off the 14 year old who owns the TC3... Hahaha...

The novak is ok for messing around, but you still have to be careful about how you gear them or the the speed control will still overheat. Customer service is good and novak does support this product if you have warrenty issues. Even out of warrenty, some things are still fixed, especially if it concerns the rotor. Some if you are looking for something that is like a 12 turn, with less work required, and consistant performance, the novak will work for you.

If you are looking for something to keep up with the 8-turn motors in open modified class, you need to look to Hacker, Lehner, and Schulze.

Yes, he's correct, the problems have been solved, and rarely are an issue any longer. The rotor situation has also been resolved. I have only seen One of the new design fail. Any rotor failures are generally handled as warranty due to the fact that, "That should Just Not Happen", unless the motor and ESC are severely abused or damaged.

Generally speaking the temperture shut-off is not an issue when the vehicles are geared correctly, but yes, just like any motor, it can be overgeared. The Temp protection will help prevent long term damage, but should not be relied on for Gearing adjustments. We try to gear based on the Temperture of the ESC. I like to see temps around 160-175F at the end of the run.

Well, If you are running for less time, you can gear a bit taller. But what-ever the length of run, I try to go for the same temp.

I have two of the systems and they have both been great. I just raced one this weekend in a 48 minute enduro race. We ran 4 cells in a pan car, the esc was warm to the touch after the race, motor was not even warm. Last year in the same race we ran 6 cells, the esc was a little hotter but still no issues. Some of the guys that ran TC's had some thermal shut downs but I think they were geared a little too high.

I think the system is great. I am trying to get my local track to allow them in any "stock" class with the stock profile. Currently they are allowed in any modified class.

Where can I find out more information about these "speed like 10T and faster) Brushless system like you mentioned....? Hacker, Lehner, and Schulze...?

Are these mfr selling only the MOTOR, or the ESC, or the whole system like Novak does? So far.........I heard about Novak and Hacker...but never heard about Lehner and Schulze...

Good brushless motors for every application. I have the Basic 4200 for offroad and carpet sedan use. The 5300 would be better for outdoor, large track use.
