EXACTAMENTE
I have never seen a less expensive tire truer ruin a pair of tires and the motors usually break only when people try to take 5mm rubber off on a 45 shore in one pass.
There is a lot of areas, where I would really spend the money for Hudy stuff (comm lathe, hand tools) but not a tire truer, which is a relatively crude apparatus

I use a cobra truer and I turn down bsr cap tires on it, its hard rubber, but I only turn it down .1 or .2 mm for putting stager in them, but it doesn't even bog it down.
For the foam rubber, 45 shore it just rips off 2 mm like it wasn't even there.

I have the cobra, it takes me numerous passes to true down brand new foams from the roughly 65mm to 60mm... I'd ike to have an automtic machine that would do it quicker, but it just isn't in the budget... Anyone have any suggestions to make this macine cut quicker???

I took the cutter and bent it into a "V" shape where the tire contacts it.

It all comes down to how much you can afford for a truer. All that have been talked about will work just fine, but it depends on what you want to spend!

No link for max modd motorsports. But.. heres a phone# 626-359-7737. Don't leave a message on the machine wait and call around 9 or 10 PM Pacific Time.
It's a second job for them and they work at night. Truer is very compact and has a very strong motor and cutter. I have no trouble cutting the hardest foams. And he has all the adapters for what ever your needs. Priced around $180 with adapter and 12 volt motor
