Hi guys, wanna check some car setting with u all! Thanks

Im runing a Hpi r40 (did not post under R40 thread as i wanna to have more reply from different driver using different car)!

Question 1:

Currently my r40 do have grip on it rear (the car do slide a bit when i enter a corner) however, when i try my friend kyosho v one RRR, the rear tires is like super glue stick firmly on the track... too my suprise, his rear suspension is very hard while mine is medium soft... so would like to check with u guys, what can i do to let my rear have better grip like the v one rrr?

my car setting:
- shock oil 700
- Tamiya medium spring
- chamber 3 degree
- medium hardness sway bar

Question 2:

I always have problem when turning in a corner, it always make a very big turn even when i use a solid axle, set my turning angle to full, high torque servo. harder spring than the rear. so what can i do to improve it?

Im using 37 shore front n rear tires.

the track is of low-medium traction.
his friend's V1rrr is using frt one way...

anyway, from what i think:
qn 1: try reducing yr rear diff oil rating. lay yr rear shocks down more than frt. increase frt droop &/or reduce rear droop.

qn 2: normal for solid to have understeering, u'll need to brake and turn for sharper turnings.

But when i try your car ( with solid axle also ) the turning is fast and sharp lei....* without using the brake! lolzzz

A oneway diff will corner far better than a solid rear diff or a gear diff. What model R40 do you have? Is it the 03 version, the 04 Hara or 05 hara? If you have the oldest one I suggest first start out with a one way diff front and try 30k diff oil in the rear. Next, what upgrades do you have on the car? The stock settings work actually well for the car and I personally don't add droop to the front. It will reduce turn in for the vehicle especially around sharp turns. I'd use it for sweeping turns instead. If I recall my old setup correctly I had used the same settings from the Mugen MTX4 for the R40 with surprising results being the HPI was always responsive to adjustments.


Front
Camber: -1.5
Castor: stock
Toe in/out: 0.5 degrees (its positive so this is toe out)
Shock oil:40wt or stock oil (good starting point)
Shock spring: HPI gold or mugen purple
Preload: 3mm
Droop: none


Rear

Camber: -3
Toe in/out: -1.5 or -2.0
Shock Oil: 40wt or stock oil
Shock spring: HPI gold or Mugen Purple again
Preload: 6mm
Droop: 8mm

Any pictures of your track by any chance? I'd be able to give you driving pointers as well. Don't forget no two cars will handle the same, but they can both handle well if setup properly. Also unless you own the Hara, the 03 R40 handling isn't as responsive as the VoneRRR. I'd also shave down the flywheel pins or swap to a Mugen clutch on the R40 for better performance and use the swuager clutch setup.

Before the Mugen I was driving an R40 good starting car! and never drift on corners. My setting was:
FRONT
camb -2.0
caster all shims on the front parst and the upper arm on the middle position
toe out +.5
height 6mm
droop 0
front diff with 100,000 grease and (mugen)
shocks with blue hpi springs
REAR
camb -3.5
toe inn -3.0
height 7mm
droop 3
rear diff with 10,000 grease(mugen)
rear shock with hpi blue springs
lower arm mounted on the middle position.
the steering on the tx was reduced 50% and the rate of responsivness full 150%
tha car have as much as steering as a serpent 720 or moore
