Thanks for the quick response too.......

Funny you should say that -- I am finding this to be the case with me as well. I had to dial back the boost a bit and put a touch on the motor to get the results I wanted without getting too hot. I'm still running about a 4.2 FDR with a 17.5 vs. the 3.5-3.6 that all the Brand X guys are running. The radar puts me at 31mph on our straight just like them though.

Sorry in a bit of a rush at the moment.

Does anyone know an approximate rollout for a tekin 10.5 with an RS in a 12th scale. Mid/Smallish size track.

I assume boost is the go with that setup...

Thanks!
Martin

I run the Duo 10.5 with 0* motor timing, version 189/194 software, max boost and rollout about 2.40" or 61mm, that would be on roughly 90ft long straight carpet tracks with mostly flowing infield.

I have ran at the Major Taylor Velodrome in Indianapolis recently and am needing some help with setup. I am running a 17.5 2s lipo setup in a pancar on a track that has an 1100 foot runline. Most people are in the 1.29 to 1.50 fdr. It is a pure speed high banked track. I am running 194 software at 9 degrees on the speedo and 12 degrees on the motor but still am considerably slower than the rest of the field.

Bob, that's only 21 degrees of timing between the motor and boost. I'd suggest bumping up to 12 on the motor and 18-20 on the boost. You're going to drop some pinions to use this setup but give it a shot.

Whos' beating you and with what?

Thanks Randy. I was running 9 degrees on the 194 software since I had read on here that the timing boost below 10 was doubled. I had assumed 9 on 194 was like 18 on the speedo with 12 on motor for a total of 30, my bad. I will try your suggestion and drop pinions. The only setup I know is a local racer running an Orion 17.5 with I believe an LRP ESC. I have been running a 76 spur with 52 pinion, I would guess with the 18-20 on the speedo I would start around a 76/47?

Over the last week I've installed my new RS Pro and Redline 10.5, installed the 194 software (Thanks Randy) and read ALL 235 pages of this thread!

This is my first brushless system and I'd like some advice please. Any advice for boost/timing set up and gearing for my home track would be very much appreciated.

It's 160 x 90ft asphalt in a TC with lipo. With a brushed 19t motor I'm generally geared between 4.8 - 5.0 if that helps.

No one likes you I think you are the first person to really test the 10.5 at SWR. Mo and been 13.5 and mod. I'm sure he may have an idea as to where to start. Randy is a cool guy. In fact I ran into him today at the shop. We was talking about a new Tekin rain proof speedo that he said can only be run this weekend (guys this is a joke so please don't email Randay or Jim looking for info)

The only advice I can give you is pull over when you see me coming.....LOL

....umm, I think you must have me confused for someone else. I don't even know where or what 'SWR' is let alone have tested a 10.5 there! Looking at your location I guess it must be in or near Sacramento. About 5000 miles away from where I am across the Atlantic!

SWR must be something like the Stonehaven race track (home of the Much More UK GP) in Scotland then.

Check this clip out:

Anyway, Randy if you've any gearing/timing advice I'd be grateful. Thanks!

My bad. There's another buddy on here that goes by JL but he must have lower case or something like that.

running speed passion 13.5 rubber outdoor tc weather will be around 86-92 degrees, using 194 profile, what a good FDR staring point for a mix layout with med traction, thanks in advance
