I would start with an Assoc 12l4 for a stater car as you will be abile to get parts at almost all hobby stores in that area. also the car is still one of the best there is. but look at the wall at your LHS and see what they carry in parts and for what car

hope this helps

I have been running t-bar type cars for most of my life..but the CRC "link" car is much smoother in the bumps and you dont have to wait for the t-bar to re-center after a crash...there are so many other little things that set it apart to.. the "stick" style battery placement and the fact that it always goes STRAIT down the straitaway....theres a few of the more important things that make it my pic..Sean

The Speedmerchant Rev.4, hands down.

The Rev.4 has a simple yet very functional design and is very durable. Most components are stardard off the shelf parts and can easily be replaced at any hobby shop that stocks 1/12 scale supplies.

Speedmerchant has some of the best support you will ever find as well. Once you start to step things up and race a bit more you will be pleased with the amount of top notch help you can get!

You didn't say and nobody asked you what type of track you will be running the car on. That can be an important factor in choosing a car, and for picking the right tire compunds.

As far as "bashing" goes, no 1/12th car will run well on un-prepared surfaces (unless the street in front of your house has carpet on it ) So if that's what you are going to do, the nitro car would be better.

In general, link cars like the CK and SpeedMerchant are less well suited for low bite asphalt racing (read: more difficult to set up right).

You can get good assembled battery packs from Pro Match, among others. If you are just starting out, or are running on low bite, try a stock motor to begin with, like the CO27 or Monster Stock.

And BTW there's nothing "brittle" about the old school front end.

For a basher? Definately stay away from 1/12!!!!

You cannot bash with 1/12 period. For bashing and occasional racing get a nitro XXXNT AD or electric truck T4. Where in AZ will you be?

Most racing in AZ is electric although there is a little nitro.
