Cool, do you like yours? How would you say it compares to the other cars of the same class? There's only 2 other local guys who have them here, a Serpent and a Kyosho. I was just trying to get an idea of weather I stand a chance later on with this thing...

Glad to hear it. One of the other guys was telling me that companies will buy parts molds from others, for and older design.(even though they're just as good, only outdated) then remanufactures the cars under a different brand name. We put the cars back to back, and it was difficult to tell wich was wich...

R40,
the Xr8 is just as good as other, if not better. There are some unique characteristic of the car, that other dont have. Probably, the best one is the price!. BUt you would not be unsatisfied on the bench, or on the track....

I haven't had much wheel time on it, but if what it's doing now is any indication of what it's capable of...DAMN! I've got some learning to do. It's very quick, much better than my 1/10th scale cars...

Naturally 8th onroads are faster and better out of the box than sedans

Yup, it feels like it's on rails! Can't wait to see a whole class of them in action. So far, aside from my own experience, I've only seen videos. This thing is a dream come true...lightning fast!

OK i am sold! I'll be getting one soon. I dont see any direct comparisons to other 1/8th cars such as the evolva or the 950R. Anybody got any experiance with the XR8 and the other cars available?

I have seen the close up pics of each and i cant see any difference in quality.

Cheers

Like I said, we set them(Evolva and XR80) right next to each other. There were very few differences, none of wich seem to reduce the quality or performance of the XR80. For the price, it's a steal, you just can't beat it. I was looking around a bit, the MRX4 is $650, the Proceed is around $600, the the evolva can go for as much as $700! Those are just chassis, the XR80 comes with everything, including a starter. Our first 1/8th scale class race should be this Sunday. There should be a Serpant 950, an Evolva, an MRX3(I think that's what it's called), and 3 XR80s. I'll be sure to post links to race results...if we don't get rained out...

Our track is on the small side for 1/8th scale, so I don't know if that will skew the results.(driver skill are of course another variable) I have no idea wheather the size of the track will give one car an advantage above the rest. Any theories?

I have both (Evolva & XR8). Unfortunately, I have not driven the XR8 yet. I hope to run them both at the first Midwest series event of the season. My only complaint so far, is the small size rx pack! AAA's suck.

Mugen is $590 at my LHS and the Evolva is $500. LOL! I'd still probably go with one of those due to parts.

Yah, the AAA pack is kinda small, but we don't run 45 minute mains, they'll do fine in our little 5 minute heats, and 15 minute mains. I drove mine a couple days, and recently put it on the cycler, had over 400 mah left in it.

Where did you find those 1/8th scale cars at those prices, are they available online? I've only read about retail prices in mags, and they were well over the typical 1/10th scale price. I never bothered to investigate further...

www.ace-hobbies.com has the Evolva around that price. THey cut down the price a bit. My LHS, Tony's Hobby Shop has the Mugen MRX4 for that price-$590. I shoulda gotten it, but eh, went nitro sedan instead.
