As XR Turbo just said "out of the box is fast enough" actually the JL EVO 3 is already modified, it is more than fast enough, therefore "NO further Modification is needed" trust me

Hey all,

Had some serious issues with my Evo 3 today.
Uhh, 1st heat it ran pretty good until I crashed and popped the axle carrier off . And from then on as soon as it fires up it sounds ok, but when you try to rev higher and higher it just sits at a flat note, like its rich but it doesnt sound like its gurgling.

It was originally to lean on the low earlier in the day but now I can barely get it to run with decent power..

Ninja Pipe and Header, #6 plug, About 23-26C roughly and it was probably mid 70% humidity today. Only had less than a litre through it.

Hope for some help/answers

Cheers,
Cameron

you may want to check if it has a air leak after the crash take the engine out of the car and look it over, good luck hope this helps

Yeh I have and didnt notice much besides a bit of fuel around the carby, took it off and cleaned it out and re-seated it.

Though if it was an ari leak by allrights it should be like its leaning out once warm correct?

Sometimes if you have a big enough crash, the filament in the glow plug can distort - try swapping glow plugs ( I know it sounds silly, trust me)

Have you tried leaning the high end? Try it and keep an eye on the temps, and make sure you got plenty of smoke.

Just because its not gurgling doestn mean its not rich, it might be a tad rich. Just run the car for at least 2 minutes, and then start leaning it 1 hour at a time.

You may be right about something blocking the exhaust !

Remember at the time of the crash, my exhaust gasket broke and looked pretty seedy so I changed tha too

Also what is a good gasket for the Evo 3? Not many seem to fit well.

Hello all, I was wonder if anyone knows the size of the exaust of the JL engine? I have a rdlogics pipe and header and it seems as though my header does not fit snug. I had an old nova mt12 that this combo fit well, but this is not the case with my JL.

Thanks Jason.

what pipe are you using??? Reddot come with 2 different seal, 1 for picco pipe and 1 for Nova type pipe, ONFA seal is hard to get in OZ but you can get the mega seal from CMC

As you posted this, it made me wonder why my nova based header does not fit snug with my gasket that was included for the reddot. With the silicone rubber piece that was connected to carb screw and nut;do I use this in place of the gasket that came with the engine or use both the rubber piece and gasket?

Thanks Jason

Jason, use the silicone tube without lip, it fits very well with nova type header. and is much stronger compare to NOVA original seal
