depends on the airline, but most airline's will not allow it. This is on the Transportation Security Administration's website. tsa.org
If the new machines detect any gas / chemicals, you will not be able to take it with you, checked in or not.
I forget what airline I took, thinking it was AirTran, and they would not allow our display T-Maxx or HPI R40 as checked in. We had to ship them to our Hotel in Vegas.
Check with the air lines first.

5 months ago, I packed 8 OS 18TZ engines, 1 with my NTC3 (everything is on the chassis without fuel) and fly to HK for vacation and race........(international flight), not a problem......not 1 single question asked.
I am not sure about local flight, I am sure it is very much the same....but for the safe side, pack the car without the engine and tank (pack it seperately on the other luggage like Scotty said)
I take it you KNOW you cannot bring any of those as HAND CARRY......they must be on storage luggage..........and no fuel of course.

Put it in your check in baggage and no problems. I took mine all over the world without probs. I take the transmitter case as hand luggage
