I used that same brace with a Windy WTF fan and the stock body was obviously not close to fitting. I've been eye-balling a few others at the track (sweep and finisher look the most promising) but I haven't actually tried any on my car yet. There's a trophy race this weekend so I should be able to ask around and test fit a few.

1) Just like any other part on the car, the less slop, the more precise the control. A tiny bit of slop might numb down some of the cars perceived edgyness, but go too far, and the car becomes unpredictable. I like having a pretty tight rack (heh), with a strong servo, myself

3) I never found my stock mounts to move in the slightest. The Jcon piece is a good looking piece for sure, but it's just bling to me.

That looks like a 3d printed part very similar to the one I got from shapeways, we have had durability issues with them unless you tape the battery in and don't run a battery strap they tend to break under the fan where the battery strap goes in.

Looking at getting a kit soon to race at The Warehouse Hobby raceway in Helena, AL. The track is a medium size I would feel comfortable guessing. I have raced Touring Cars and VTA but have never tried dirt. I will be racing in mod buggy class.

My question is that the minimum weight for mod buggy is 1500g. I am torn if I should go with the Factory Lite or the Champions Edition? Will I miss having the extra weight of the Champions Edition or would the Factory Lite be a better choice because the car will be closer to the minimum weight?

Thanks that's good to know. I just saw Trinity released a fan mount that goes over the endbell... I may just try to use that instead.

It's not about weight.

It's about flex. I recommend the champions edition and buy a Lite chassis. Try both chassis and pick the one that feels best to you.

Just my 2 cents but if you are having doubts about your equipment it's important to rectify it. Confidence on the driver stand is paramount

Whilst I can't comment on the b5m as I don't have any steering slop at least that I'm concerned about I replaced the stock steering rack on my b44.2 with the jconcepts aluminium rack and the difference was incredible. More importantly it gave me the confidence to drive the car how I wanted to and my results improved.

So my advice is rectify what ever you believe is causing the problem so that you can concentrate on driving and having fun.

If its about flex then the Lite chassis would be better for the job? Dirt is all new to me and sorry for asking so many questions. I believe I'll wait to buy the champions edition due to all the extra parts included unless they are unnecessary. The shocks that are included with the CE seem to be the best for the job.

Weight doesn't matter as much in modified as it does in stock. I'd go with the CE since it has more tuning options in the box. I have the Light, and I've thought about getting the "regular" chassis to try out. CE + Light chassis will be less than getting the Light and buying all the other stuff that comes with the CE.

If i was running modified i would go with the CE. I bought the lite with intentions of running stock but switched to modified and wish i had more weight down low and wanted to try the 4 gear. The kashima shock bodies look awesome and all the tuning options will let you try the different things especially if you are running on a new surface with a new car.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I've thought about my desire to remove the slop at this point. Due to the position of the variability the movement is amplified by the time the steering is affected. Am determined to minimise as much as achievable.

I have ordered the exotek AE aluminum servo arm. As it has a clamping attachment it will be easier to lockdown. I really like the fact that it is designed with the exact dimensions of the stock arms. My OCD in me doesn't like having to add subtrim. This servo arm is 4mm shorter than the one I'm using. Fingers crossed for 0 subtrim.

In regards to the jconcepts servo mount, I decided against picking one up. I thought about it and will replace the washers with star lock washers. Even though I doubt the servo moves often ( really big hits excluded) the star washers will assist in locking the servo in place. The stock servo mounts are more than acceptable. Also don't want to add any more weight to the front of the vehicle as traction can be a bit low at times in Oz.
