Default Best Value Buggy Engine

Hi guys,
i'm new to Nitro, been on the electric side of things for a while but now looking to get a nitro in addition.

I'm looking for an engine that is suitable for a 'beginner' in the Nitro world that offers the great value for its price.

Any recommendations are much appreciated!

Hey the Os Max 21XZB ver two is good starting engine with enough power to push you are the track. You can get it for about $320.00 but you can get a 30.00 dollars of from tower. Its a start Michael

Thats is right. But for a beginner you cant go wrong with a Basic Nova. The closest thing OS had to this was the .21 RG years ago.

With either the Elite or P5XLT, there is great bottom end and they hold a tune super easy. The OS puts down a ton of power and this may be too much starting out, not to mention OS Pipes are not cheap - and thats still needed. If the XRB was still out...then yeah perhaps a better alternative.

Dont get me wrong, I love OS, have been running them since the RG, run OS in 1:8 offroad and onroad, but Nova has a great forgiving beginner oriented product that fits the newcomer just better.

So after reading and looking at different shops, these are my contenders:
Which one should I get? Will I notice the differences? Is it worth the spend the extra $100-$150 for the O.S. stuff?

thanks!!!

Werks B2 with a 2058. Best bang for your buck for buggy

Werks B5 with a 2058 or 2013. Best bang for your buck for truggy

Werks B7 with a 2058. This thing has been awesome for me!!

How easy/difficult was it to tune the B7? I read the B7 thread a bit and it seems a little tricky at times?

This is cool too:

PALOMA .21LIMITED

As for a pipe, some of the more experienced racers could probably give you better, more specific advice… Normally, for Nova engines, a 9901 with both short and long headers(short for top end/bigger tracks and long for bottom end/shorter tracks..) is, or used to be, a pretty standard choice. A Weks 2058 is a good pipe too.

I'd get that Elite 5 plus a Nova pipe with a second header/manifold. Someone here can give you the exact number designations of the headers, or, just send a mail to the website and ask them what to go with… But for value for money that engine is simply flat out unbeatable. The Paloma I guess is more powerful, so more for truggy. But I like power...

It hasn't been hard to tune, and it holds a tune very well. There's not anything wrong with Novas either, but Ron at werks will help you in times of need. All you have to do is call the number on their website, and he will talk to you as long as you need. He will help you with any tuning issues. His clutches are also awesome too.

Elite 5 from novarossidirect or Paloma.

.21 Off-Road, Page 2

Great racing motors and good motors to learn with. Won't hurt your wallet much when you make a rookie mistake.

Then when you get ready for big boy racing... You can spend your hard earned $$$ on an OS Speed motor.

Spending $100++ more isn't going to give you twice the performance. That's a rookie mistake. Spend that money on plugs, clutch bearings, and clutch parts.
