Brushless motor lost power after overloading
Hi,
New to forum, got a issue hoping to get some idea of whats wrong.
Got myself a preloved HPI king crawler 1/12 scale.
1. Change the motor to a brushless sensorless coolRC motor. 3650 4300KV with 60A ESC.
2. Using a lipo battery 2300mah, 30C.
The crawler after being overload, i. E come to stop after hitting obstacle the motor will lose torque/ power. Vehicle cannot overcome inertia to move. Without load it still react to the transmitter but at low speed and torque, i. E car lifted up to let the wheel run freely.
The vehicle will only go back to normal after powering off and on again.
I am suspecting may need to change to a highet rating battery or see how can better "discharge" the back EMF which i suspect could be the cause.
Anyone with similar experience or have any advice.

2s lipo? Do you have the low voltage cutoff set correctly in the esc?

Hmm.... Did not have the programming card to do that. So just to be sure, the sympton that i experience may be due to 'over discharge' of the batt due to high voltage. Would need to get the programming card then. Tks.

Id change the battery to a larger C rated battery.. a 30c battery might not be able to deliver the amps the esc /motor require to move rc.

If it is just the batteries, turning on and off wouldn't fix that immediately I don't think. I have had this happen with loose or poorly soldered connectors, I would check that.

Nope. Not connection issue. Powering off and on will cause the emf/ back emf to colllapse. This will allow the motor to go back to the initial startup state before any overloading.
RC was running ok on first power up. Normally after running for a while or when hit obstacle it will go into the problem describe
Regardless. Will try a bigger C battery and get a programming card to see if the voltage cut off is set....

How long are you able to run the truck before this starts happening? That 4300kv motor is going to be pretty power hungry, especially if you are bashing instead of crawling. Probably less than 5 minutes before it would hit low volt cut.

try another battery of a larger C and the back emf will be gone.

I’d be aiming for minimum 50C here... 120A to be sure.

Yup. Will try a higher amp like 4500mah type with 40~70C type.

Yup. Change to a higher rating battery, also change to a 26T pinion. The issue was solved. Tks!
