There are so many to choose from!! First are the aluminum bodied Traxxas Big Bores. These appear to be pretty decent. Are the stockers just fine? I'm buying a Slash shortly and just want the best possible shocks for racing on a track. Preferably with threads, but whatever. No, don't recommend the Losi 8ight shocks. Again it's for racing, not jumping off the house.

Well...you said the best...

Kyosho RT5 shocks. I built my RB5 shocks and they are the best/smoothest shocks I've ever owned.

However, they're pricey. I'm ordering a set of Traxxas Slash specific aluminum big bores for my other ride.

I think you'd be happy with the big bores from Traxxas. Check your local rules about shocks before you buy though, that may move you to the mod class.

i loved my big bores. I had those with trinity orange tmaxx springs. They were to stiffest springs they made but i was doing some big jumps. Never bent one.

In the Box Stock class, you're not allowed to mess with them. I'll be running in our Pro2 Class with a 10.5 motor, probably some GooseBumps or Bowties, and still unsure about shocks.

Again, I am real clueless about these. I see so many aftermarket options on ebay, and spring options, etc. I would really love some feedback with people's experience with what they have tried for the track.

I've owned my Slash almost a year and I've been pretty brutal to it. I like the stockers, to be truthful. There's nothing wrong with plastic shocks.

big bores.....just buy em, done deal.

they work just as good, and are JUST as smooth as any kyosho or losi or associated shock...and they bolt on with no fuss.

i had em on ALL of my slashes, all the fastest mod corr guys that run slash have em around me....and, like i said, they were MADE for the truck lol

The Big Bores are one of the few very nice quality items that Traxxas offers. I think you will be very happy w/ them. I'm using a set of SC10 shocks on mine and they are a big step forward compared to the stock Slash shocks, but just about any shock will be.

Cool. I think I'll get them. I guess not having threads isn't that crucial? It just seems these should have been threaded if they are selling them as thier high end shock replacments eh?

i just got these
for my slash and the cool thing is that they use all the same internals from the stock shocks and they are treaded bodies im am a noob here so it wont let me post the link but they are at towerhobbies.com under slash parts

That swaybar mount is sweet. Where'd you pick that up? Did it imporve the handling much?
