Hi,
decided to go to Vegas to race. I just got back into racing a couple years ago after a 25 years of retirement. The shop I started back into racing at, closed up last year, now, I only have a temporary carpet track in the winter to run at, and it is only up on race nights, so no place to test or practice. I bought a rev5 at the end of the season, ran it twice and would greatly appreciate any set-up advice for Vegas that you can give. I have a couple thunderpowers on the way, bought a Speedmerchant Pro10 and have signed up for WGT as well.

I promise, I won't nerf you too hard into the pipes if we are racing each other. Just figured it would be more fun if I got there with a car that was at least close. It going to take me a bit to get my driving back into shape as it is.

Thanks,
-Alex

hey guys,

Trying to figure out tires to bring for vegas. What are you guys running on carpet for stock 1s in the rev5?

we have a low to med bite carpet and have our interpretation on last year's vegas layout. we have been running 2xpink fronts and yellow or orange rears. i have read in the last couple of weeks and guys with other cars are running lilac or even black fronts. man, that is a bunch harder tire then what we are seeing.

just trying to plan for vegas.

also any sugestions on Superstock as well. again we are running 2xpink front and yellow or orage rears.

TIA

I have run a ton of different combos so far, and so far the fastest consistent I have run with was orange/d.pink... Who knows what IIC will bring, though (much higher grip). I believe that there is someone at our track running faster with yellow/mag, still...

What? Finally.

Recently tires seem to be the testing of choice up here. So many different combos. I personally always go back to yellow/dbl pink as my control tires when testing and it always feels better/more consistent to me. I wouldn't rule out a lilac or black. A black is actually a dbl pink just in the other type of rubber. There will be enough grip at Vegas that a lilac should work. Two years in a row it worked (Boice/Lia)

yeah, but those 2 years were with round cells.

also, jaco shows black as a 42 shore based on the part number. i would think that is more of a purple in the low natural rubber (yellow compund).

Now parma has a black that is 35 shore, but low natural rubber

we are the same. 2xpink/yellow(orange) seam to work the most consistent for us. what is your tracktion like? strange thing is that is the same combo we are running for 13.5

Have you really noticed that much a difference in tires between lipo and nimh? Not really starting from scratch since switching. We just have less weight to throw around, so overall a softer suspension, but tires seem to work the same.

Bruce has claimed it to be the same as dbl pink. I thought the same as you just reading the different charts (all are different btw) If you feel them back to back, they feel similar in stiffness.
