Choosing first buggy for bashing
#61
Ok... let me finish this here and now i race and bash, i got a rc8t and 4 xray 808 2011 specs. i race with the Xrays and bash with the rc8t and a 808.
And i can confirm the AE does wear out hella quick! My rear arms move all over the place where the hinge is, but the one 808 i bash with is soooo strong!
it's 2 years old and it's still in great shape, no movement like the AE haha but yeah go with the Xray xb9e, the 808e has the 10 spec diff housing and is prone to failure, but the xb9e uses the the new housing along with the 2011 spec. If you ever want to race the Xray will get you to the podium as well! and don't worry about part support for the Xray, you wont need it
so go with the xray xb9e and you wont regret it! and its the best lookin buggy out!

xb9 is pretty expensive for bashing... $520 for a roller, plus electronics... For the price difference you can replace like 40 a-arms on the RC8.2e!

E erroneous sees this... There really is no 8th scale beginners bashing RC. 8th scale buggies are really all racers. Give or take a very very few low end. But 90% of them were made to race. I really feel sorry for this guy honestly. Here is my recommendation for 8th scale. Ofna makes inexpensive buggies that can be beat and parts are not expensive. I own a hyper 9e and have had a few of the nitros. Check this one out. For $340 RTR isn't bad at all. http://www.nitrohouse.com/ofna_buggy..._rtr_blue.html.

I agree with all that vge72 says above.
I would like to add that whatever ebuggy you get, you should look into adding an aftermarket front bashing bumper to it. I can personally recommend the T Bone Racing products, although I am sure there are other brands out there. The stock front bumpers on these things are tiny and really don't do much. An aftermarket bumper designed for bashing can reduce the initial impact force on the chassis, front arms, shock tower, etc by quite a bit, helping them last longer. Plus you are less likely to dig in and tumble when the front end comes down first.

Hey guys, I've been contacting some hobby shops in my area and they have a Losi 8ight electric 2.0 race roller in stock for $399.99. What do you guys think?

The Losi's are a great buggy, just as good as the rest if not better than a couple others mentioned. I run Losi and love them, never had a problem out of any of mine and i own several Losi 8ight T 2.0's, a Losi 2.0 Buggy and a Losi 3.0 buggy, all are great. Very durable..

and includes the electronics mentioned, not bad.
If you want a radio, you can see what tower hobbies has, join there membership, and use some of the discounts. Can pretty much get $75 (or $65 aster member price) off of $500, etc. So an AE RC8.2E RTR is like $425 or 435 shipped.

do you need a new buggy for bashing?

The others are good, but XRay and Mugen can take more beating than RC8.
And I agree with you: if you have that much money to spend, why not get a solid byggy rather than some crap that constantly breaks?
(About me: I run Mugen, I had RC8, friends run the others, especially XRay)

Since you have these as a basis: drop the Serpent, it is too crowded to work on.
