yeah cut the straps. The manual wasn't too clear on that either I kind of looked at pics of the team drivers vehicles to get that impression.

I'll be working on the car for a May 21st race, it will actually be an outdoor loose track so should be interesting to see what I can find. Tires like steppins work lol.

If anyone has any suggestions on things to do for setup, feel free to let me know.

Class will be mod, I'll probably run an 8.5T motor.

Hey guys, I've been trying to get my hands on one of these for a while now. Last week everyone was showing that they would have them in stock on May 15. I checked yesterday and now it's saying late July??? Does anyone know of any hobby shops that have one in stock?

It's crazy how many tracks are going carpet. I like to see these cars on dirt! LOL

If its unwatered dirt I like it, out here when they do water though the mud just sticks and sticks and sticks ... darn near carrying around the weight of another car because of it.

The issue I have is these are Off-Road cars. I understand in areas where dirt might not be an option, but off-road entails varying conditions and the cars are not automatically on rails.

Here we have the red clay-dirt mixture and the add calcium and water it down to tackily it but with the Florida heat, it dries up fairly quickly and dust begins to build. Get off line and you will have to be cautious on the throttle and braking until you're back in the groove and flick the dust off your tires over a few corners. Make sit so much more difficult and fun, I find.

I see it from the track owners side. The guy that owns our local track saved a ton of money on maintenance and man hours by going carpet, and also opened up more racing for the on-road guys. And don't worry, this car sees dirt at our track down south too and it works awesome there. I'll have get some video of it doing its thing there soon.

I've been kicking myself in the hind quarters the last 10 or so times out for having strayed from my v3 (it's now my son's wheeler so I get to drive it for setting it up for him) and am contemplating a return, but went with a YZ-2 for 2WD and am loving it so much I'm thinking of trying the YZ-4 in order to stay with the same manufacturer, but I've not seen any off-road footage of this car really, so a bit on the fence. Might just do it because I enjoy figuring out how to make cars work for off-road just as I did with my YZ-2, but my damn 410 is so effortless to drive it keeps me second guessing myself. LOL

That day the track was slightly moist due to the overcast day, but when the sun is out and by the time that class would run from what I recall, it was very slick. I was the black and white tekno in the vid that was all over the place, hoping the DESC10 will fix that problem. top driver GJ was running a losi I beleive.

yeah it is a fun track. The back straight can be a bear on smaller cars from what I recall (I didn't get to go last year due to moving) when you slam the breaks lol.

It can range from smooth sections to rough sections and from what I recall if you get out of the line you can really end up in the fluff for sure!

Anyone got recommendations on what setup to start with for dirt or should I just go with the base setup?

lol yeah she is a big one. Fun place to run, just wish it was closer for sure.

I do want to look into making some front step pins here, they would probably work quite well on this track.

I'd just go with the base setup to start. Probably light oils in the rear like a 27.5 or 30 wt with the 1.7 X 2 pistons, and in the front probably like a 35 wt oil and 1.6 X 2 and stock springs. Start there and see what she needs. I'm guessing with a loose track like that your going to need the rear to hook up and almost a small amount of push in the front to keep the car under control.
