xenon gears are great. at my last race i stripped my kawada 112 teeth so for the final heat i borrowed a friend of mine, it felt much smoother so the car was faster and the motor didnt heat up as much. i think its like robinson racing white spurs. the plastic felt like teflon

Donīt know what plastic this is but I think itīs not delrin. I had other brand delrin gears breaking but not the Xenons.

Perfectly round and strong and smooth running. Best gear I ever had.

Beside this delrin parts in general always were a little brittle.

Hmm ... something is funny here ...

I couldnt fine a word regarding DELRIN which is related to the spur gear on Xenon and HPI racing website.

On Xenon website, it says "Perfect Spur Gear #pitch #t".

On HPI website, it says "Spur Gear 7#T Carbon-Fiber reinforced" and "Spur Gear #T " (which we all know is made out of nylon.

So Joe, mind letting us know where we can find this Delrin spur?
I would also like to purchase some.

I know that the stock Pro4 gear that is the Xenon gear has lasted for several months now running mod indoors and outdoors. It has to be the toughest gear I have ever had while being the truest as well. I will be sticking with the stock Pro4 gears whatever they are made of.

The part number for the OE spur is in the instructions...they also have other sizes "available" (remember that we're talking HPI here )

the spur gear itself on the pro4 has "xenon - 64" moulded along the rim.

and on the parts ref. list in the manual it saids "spurgear 98t (delrin 64)"

www.speedworldraceway.com is the official U.S. distributor of Xenon gears. They have all the 48P and 64P gears.

Hi Adrian,

Hanami (Owner of Xenon) himself said that he used a similar compound to delrin but not delrin. Nice Chap and enjoys helping out the racers when he was here in KL for a visit.

I think suah said he might be coming down again soon. He told us that he supplies just about the entire market in japan with spurs because of the quality and the number of mouldings. He mentioned he has all sizes for his spurs for both 64 and 48p.

I've stripped 2 of the Xenon 64/100's already. The teeth just came clean off pretty easy. I stripped one of them after only about 5 runs. It could be user error, and this has not stopped me from continuing to buy them, however, I wouldn't say they were the worlds most durable product.

You wanted to know what the white Xenon gears were made of...they come in the Pro 4 and HPI labels them as Delrin. It looks/feels like Delrin to me (I've machined and used Delrin parts several times for other stuff)...

The fact that the "guy who owns Xenon" says that it's not "Delrin", but something similar doesn't really surprise me, because "Delrin" is a registered trademark for a very hard nylon.

I'm at a loss to understand your confusion. It looks like Delrin, acts like Delrin...you can just call them "Nylon" if you like that better.

Yes, very noisy. Heck, people were complaining about my car being noisy. But with a bit tighter mesh, it'll quiet down.

If you havent tried PRS gears yet they are an excellent gear as well...Maybe a good alternative if you cant find the Xenon ones.
