That doesn't make sense .... stock is not causing the problems with electronics blowing-up so slowing down this class is like punishing all your kids for something that only your oldest kid did.

If 5-cell stock is "too slow" for you, then move up to 19-turn.

Next.

The whole purpose of this thread is to discuss how 5-cells will effect mod-racing (less voltage to equipment) ... talking about 5-cell stock at this point does not make sense.

Then why did YOU comment on it?

At the end of the day the rules have been laid out and we need to get back to racing side of things.

Personally I would like to hear how Oscar thinks this will affect the battle between Brushed motors and Brushless ones.

A change to fewer cells for ROAR would have to be for all classes (stock-19-mod). Although it doesn't really matter, tracks and clubs sort of make up the rules as they go along so what ROAR does probably won't affect most. Pity it is that way but it is.

Just go ahead then.
I guess the whole thing with 19t & Stock is that they suppose to be slower than Modified. That way, Stock will be more easy for beginners, 19t will attract some stockdrivers, and for the ones who want to go a bit faster, it´s a golden opportunity to go Modified.

...and I agree.

Anyone remember off-road in the late 80's/early 90's?

You had to have 7-cell packs for your 4WD & stadium truck, 6-cell packs for buggy. Nice pain in the butt that was.

And all this freaking out.....it's like when everyone had to go from 1200SC to 1700SCE batteries. You would have thought it was the end of RC!

Keep it up doomsdayers, you're quite entertaining. Throw in the LiPo/Brushless "saviors" group and it's like watching a Middle-East peace conference.

Jihad!

What I don't understand, and maybe because I do not have enough experience in the under the table workings of the R/C industry is this....

1. We have a bunch of people bitching that Stock is too fast for new people... 5 cell will help that.. a small amount, but some. < not part of this conversation, but relevant none the less.
2. We have manufacturers saying we have too much voltage for the current equipment.... 5 cell will help that for enough time for the manufacters and the industry to figure out which way to go...
3. 5 cell will not slow the cars much... if at all in Mod ... hmm go faster with less weight and less wear....
4. what is obvious is this really hurts the Lipo side... but for how long... new tech is always on the way....
5. Where in offroad do you NEED that much voltage....
6..... Six Volts seems like a nice compromise...

So run a 9 turn motor instead of a 13 turn.

I'm not live in EU but I dont think there is something we might checkout later.

As mod rule now 5cells 1350g, is this going to affect stock class in Europe?

I know some of EU country is doing 23T stock, and others doing 27T stock. It would be interesting to see if majority or race org going to change stock to 5cells 1350g. As in JP, only JMRCA mod racing is using 4cells rule, where every other race, stock or mod, are pretty much 6cells still. It would be interesting to see if 5cells is more friendly to accept than 4cells. If it's more friendly than 4cells, it might be the future IFMAR rule, who knows.

Actually, I run a 14 turn in mod truck...

Why should the minority in this hobby (Mod TC) dictate what the rest get to run? Let's face it, if one class goes 5 or 4 cell the rest have to follow...
