How often do your cars get stripped all the way down for cleaning?

I remove the engine, electronics, gas tank, pipe, and shocks. Then it gets the hose down and scrubbed with simple green. WD-40 on all of the metal parts and a heavy coating of orange pledge. Then use the air compressor to dry it. Clean the rest seperately and carefully inspect all areas of the car before reassembling it.

thats about the same for me too. where i race they have a couple of weeks off in the summer to redo the track for another season. at this time i take it completly apart. i mean every screw and nut come out and all the fluids get changed.

Do you guys pull the axle carriers off to before hosing it down? Does it hurt the bearings to get soaked down?

Taking the engine out and the electronics sounds like a pain but on a car like my Losi 8ight 2.0 it is really very quick and easy. 4 screws and the whole electronics tray comes out. 5 more and the engine and pipe come off. I have only cleaned it once so far (it's new) and it took me a while but now that I have it figured out the next time should be pretty easy.

I do the same thing to my car after every race day. Makes it easy to check everything for damage and wear.

As long as you give them a heavy dose of WD-40 they will be fine(for both of those items).

Blow the excess off with an air compressor.

What would be a good way to clean your kit if you dont have an air compressor. I like the strip down hose offf and wd40 everything method but i my not be able to get all the wd40 off without an air compressor. Would a blow dryer do the job? Any other methods?
