Pan car from carpet-to-asphalt , any setup tips?
1/10th scale pan car Associated 10R5 going from a carpet track with foams , to an smooth asphalt track with CRC rubber tires. Running 17.5 1s Lipo.
Any general tips would be appreciated.
So far I have raised the front and rear ride height.
The car is much looser on the asphalt , so I may soften the rear side springs a little and firm up the front springs a bit.
Any insight on set up science , tips and tricks would help.

Softest rear springs I have & I start med. springs in the front
I turn my steering speed way down between 40% & 50% For a slippery track & 60% & 80% for high bite. Some racers like it & some do not.
If you have problems with the car wanting to spin out while changing lanes on high speed straights you can try between -30 & -60 Steering exponential.
We actually run WGT 13.5 with WGT tires outdoors with good success

Edit. Something I tried last race was a high rpm low torque 12.3 rotor. It really helped with low speed tire spin.

AMZ, sorry for misreading your post, but everything I stated should apply & is what I will try. But in this case larger tires will not give better traction
Our next scheduled asphalt race is the end of the month if weather permits.

Amz there is 5mm minimum ride height for carpet. I would not go lower than that for asphalt either. You should still have to lower your chassis to achieve this. To help prevent scratching your chassis you can get a roll of clear shelf liner for a few bucks & apply that to the bottom of your chasis. Try to do that a couple days before running the car, it takes a day or so for it to stick well. I replace it when needed.
Honestly until more chassis's are built just for the class with asphalt racing in mind, it may be hard to get them to be race-able.
It does not stop it, but it does seem to help.

I don't race in this class but how much additive you put on your tyres may be another consideration, if you're allowed to use it of course

On asphalt with WGT foams be sure the track is prepped, clean with lots of sugar water
(we use that, I have little experience with soda)
Tires clean & dry NO additive works best for us. A practice or two to run them in. Additive's do not seem work as well as none. Imo.
Rubber tires, I have not tried yet. I will be trying typical touring tire additives.
Any suggestions would be great.

Although it does not look like it , the surface is very smooth. We set up on the back stretch of an old real racetrack.
We always run out tires dry.
Lastnight I put the side damper tubes from my RC12.2 on my 10R5, works much better.Also softened up the side springs , and went a little harder on the front springs.

Tube grease 20.000 or 15.000
Centre damper: use a TC shock and start with the red or yellow Tamiya spring ore something simelar.
Diff: use it with trustbearing.
Are you running 1 or 2S??
If 2S go for a shorty pack or 2x 1S side by side.
This gives a great weight balance and more pressure on the rear wheels.

I think the weight distribution will be your best option for your problem. Move the weight forward in the car, battery, electronic, ect. Also run the biggest fears possible to still get your rollout as it will move to motor forward. This will numb the car down. Also put the 0° caster blocks on the front end with very little to no static caster. Good luck !
