Thanks just looking for someone to confirm. It looks like it to me but want to makes sure before spending $80 on to upgrade my duo3.

If they are I will probably order the Apex since I hear good things about the Revtech for none boosted stock.

Ion 3 is a duo 3 based motor and the Apex is a Revtech based motor.

I run non boosted 17.5 stock buggy and use a 60 c fantom lipo and a apex motor with a lrp sxx v2 esc and I am very happy with the performance. It has a lot of torque as well as top end.

Thanks for confirming. I currently run a duo3 but not that we are running non boosted I was thinking of trying the Revtech style since I hear they are better for non boosted class.

I bought an ION3 10.5 over the weekend. I can't find the kv for the motor anywhere. I ran it at 22/78 with 35 degrees of timing in my SC-R. The motor was around 145F after 6 minutes.

Should I gear up or increase my timing?

The 10.5 is a 4300kv motor.

IMO, I would go up one more tooth on your pinion and recheck your temp after 6 min. You don't want to go up much higher on timing in a SCT.

Hey Chris, did your motor come with the dyno print out on the side? My ION3 8.5 is only 4000kv, so you gotta be less than that. My dyno printout says 19,471kv @5volts. Divide by 5 and thats your kv. I'm geared 19/84 with mmp, Thunderpower 2s 65c. 8 degrees of timing advance and my boost ramp is 2800-6500rpm.
