Tekin speedo, reciever pack, duo 1, thunderpower single cell, futaba servo, and I'm way bias here, SpeedMerchant Rev5 with the formula front end. has to be the smoothest car...... ever.

Pretty much all the cars are good. While I love t bar cars, a link car will be more lipo friendly. Other than that, whatever floats your boat can get the job done. That being said, the new CRC car not only looks like a winner but looks like one hell of a deal too.

For some reason this guy reminds me of the savage losi guy that was terrorising the electric offroad forums. I am probably wrong though

Mark, I can understand why he wouldn't search all 9 million posts to see what people say is a good car... The search function is messed up, too.

With that said, Speed Merchant puts out the best cars. Yes, I am extremely biased.

the 1/12 thread is only 2000+ posts on dozens of subjects, it seems like 1/12 should be more like a sub-forum or something

Which ever motor floats your boat. Tekin Redline works well, but the chassis needs filing in one corner to make the motor fit. Epic/Trinity Duo 2 is great too.
Either SMC 50+C or Thunderpower 50C 1S.
RX pack or TQ booster Hobbycity booster.

The BMI DB12RR is an excelent car. You will not see this car on every podum because BMI does not have a team stacked with top level drivers but dont let that fool you, its the best car for all skill levels. And I am extremely biased also.

I hear about the BMI often. Are the parts easy to get? What makes the car so good?

The car will depend on what you want out if it. If you're new to 1/12 pan altogether, I would suggest a link car. Most of these are similar, and are all competitive. T-Bar is less common and also not as good for a beginner. Some tweak easily, and they are sometimes more twitchy.

The Speed Merchant or CRC cars would both be great link cars, and they're both proven winners.
For T-Bar I think your best bet would be to go with an Xray or get an Associated car and the conversion for T-Bar.

BMI makes a car that has the best of both worlds, it uses a fibreglass "flex plate" instead of side springs to give it a T-Bar feel, but from what I've heard, it is extremely easy to drive for a 1/12 pan, and almost never tweaks.
That being said, the Xray has an optional T-Bar mounting configuration that is supposed to eliminate tweak problems.

All comes down to what you want out of the car really.

Lipo: Link Car or BMI
4 Cell (on its way out sadly): T-Bar or the original CRC Gen-X.

The front end is an upgraded version of the AE Dynamic Strut front end so any shop that carries parts for the 10L or 12L series will have front suspension parts that are compatible. The rear axle assembly is the IRS axle which is somewhat common. The rest of the parts (except for the shock) are all BMI and can be found on-line at the BMI store or at a few on-line shops.

I have just been searching and searching for the past few Days as I will be running 1/12th for the winter for the first time in about 4 Years and this is the best combo I have seen listed as it has all the top parts I have been researching to be solid.

Great post.
