Default Kyosho inferno gt2 second gear gone

I have been reading about the secound gear in the inferno gt2 stripping because of the mesh not being tight. When they say mesh does that mean tighten the two gears tight together as tight as you can get them? The car runs great i just finished breaking it in. Do any one make a set of metal gears for this car 46/40? How do i mesh the gears up. I new to the street cars i have three monster trucks.

There is lengthy, ongoing conversations on the GT thread... Some people are working on the conversion offered. There have been experiments with some metal gears. I have only had problems with the stock gearing when the mesh wasn't set tight. By tight I mean that there is no slop and the gears rotate freely. I usually turn the car on it's side (pipe side up) and loosen the engine mount screws under the chassis and let the whole assembly slide towards the spurs. Then, holding the engine in place, tighten the engine mount screws real tight. Now put the car upright and check for mesh. If there is the lease bit of slop... I will retighten until no slop.

I did go to a one piece engine mount. To me... it seemed that there was movement in the GT2 mount. When ever you would tap the wall (...err... or so I have heard ) there would be a minute movement of the engine allowing a little slop in the mesh and very soon a toothless second gear. I haven't had a failure since making these changes.

Also note that there is a 'B' version to the gear set that is proportedly made out of a different... supposidly stronger.. plastic.

Solid Solution for the tranny 2 nd gear
Lee runs this car you are talking about every weekend .
He has a tranny fix for the Kyosho . Replacement tranny and zero problems .
I cannot remember the name of the car he is using for this part .
He told me that it is about 150 for the upgrade .And it elimanates this issue .

You are talking about the Ipanema SR transmission conversion:

http://ipanemasports.com/blackhawksr...nsmission.aspx

This is essentially a Kyosho Evolva gear set and drive shafts from another truck or buggy made to match the Inferno's drivetrain.

Drilling and dremelling is required.

I have the same transmission and it gave me fits putting it on correctly but once I got some help(someone with good tools) its been nothing but smooth shifting.

You don't see in the picture, but they give you a bag full of shims to make a smooth fit.

Lee's site is http://www.gasrccar.com/ he's a stand up guy. I've done bussiness with him for a while now.
