Has any body looked into what parts it would take to upgrade our car to 2016 specs.

Strip spur
Just got the X1 and I kept stripping the spur gear. It actually happened twice less then one minute into a run. I tried resetting the gear mash several times and did it correctly with very slight play I also made sure the mortor screws were done in tightly. I can't seem to figure out why this is happening. Also check the pod to make sure all the screws were done tightly. It seems when I try to tighten the motor screws the motor itself keeps moving back towards the spur gear and won't stay in place. I also have to hold the motor in place as I screw it in an order set my pinion to spur gear mesh.

Strange, this normally only happens when you blow a bearing.

It was on an Exotek F1R2, but the plastic bearing carrier didn't fit tightly in the aluminum block and that caused mine to strip as you described. As David described, check the bearing as well for slop. I would also consider putting a washer on the screw before you put it through the block to see if that would stop the "walking" as you tighten the motor screw.

maybe your axle is moving side to side, as well

Motor screws too long? I've had instances similar to whats being described and it was because the motor screws we just long enough to feel tight, but still allow the motor to move with some force.

Just got my new X1 and am looking to see what would be a good pinion to start at? Any suggestions? I run on a carpet track that is fast and flows very well.

What motor? If blinky 21.5, 2.7-3.0 ratio is a good start depending on motor and track size. Pinion size 32-35T 64P
