Wow....now that is a good sized track...

Any idea what kinda speeds these guys were able to hit on something that big? I'm unfamiliar with the "RAMS", where are they held?

Has anyone found specific info on tuning the 2-speed? We may have ours stuck in 2nd. What does the manufacturer say?

Default TWO SPEED

R40,
are you sure it is stuck in second?
The way I assembled mine was like this.
The locking set screw that pushes th eclutch away from the nut is just barely pushing it away on both side. Then you sink the screws down into the hole then back them out until you just barely see the head of the screw. This usually works for a general setup. I must admit, I have had my share of two speed situations also. A couple of years ago, nitro was pretty new to me. I was running a Yokomo Gt4 and it work well except for the shifting. It wouldnt shift out of first. I tried everything. Other people tried everything. Finally, I sat down, and went throught the twospeed with a fine tooth comb, and found the two speed was install backwards.. DUMB! Just make sure the clutch is not really in first gear. I cant see how a centrifugal clutch can be stuck in second, unless there is a mechanical fault. Check it thouroughly. Let us know.

Wink

Mine was an RTR, so I didn't build the clutch. I have experience with 2 speeds. Both my RS4 Racer 2, and my R40 have them. I'm pretty sure it was stuck in 2nd, because the shoes were so loose, meaning they engauged way too early. I went back through the instructions, and all it has is a pic of what you are describing. I've got it set that way, but won't be able to test until this weekend(stupid career!...LOL)

I'm hoping that going through all this will make it easier for guys who go out and pick one of these beasts up...or get one from a kick ass girlfriend...

Did anyone find anything out about an optional rear diff? The locked is well and good for larger tracks, but ours is just too small. I'm looking for a simple, non-locked rear diff. When going through the first RTR I picked up, I noticed it had one.( I put it back and got another) The rest have all had locked diffs. Is there a way to unlock it, or is it just a solid axel?

I'd just go for the kit one. It has way more upgrades and better all around. For the price of the RTR you can get some great stuff.

I read the reason you're selling the kit is because you no longer need the parts. Did you sell your other one, or just find a great parts source? The reason I ask is I'm currious about longer term ownership of the car. I've had mine almost a month, but only get to drive it once a week if I'm lucky. Have you run into any specific issues?
