Schumacher uses the same size diff balls in their cars. Acer Bearing will have the diff balls in all sizes. They will carry metric and standard sizes.

whoops... someone might verify the size. i read so many forums, i got mixed up! i know the Tamiya cars have 3mm, but havent had the R2/3 apart in a while!

on another note, i did run the R3 for a bit sunday, smooth indoor concrete, sprayed with VHT. worked very well, basic setup, with a few adjustments. ill try to post it later this evening, if anyone is interested... plus im gonna run it on some carpet this sat....

Tamiyadriver are you running the stock steering rack on your R3? If so do you seem to need more steering throw? I have a new Speedway Pal rack coming that will allow me to get the steering throw I need and I'm sure 99% of the problems I have with my are for lack of steering throw. All other stuff on the car is great.

nope, i bought some red goodies a while back from a guy in the ForSale thread... got a red alum rack, dogbones and shaftholders...

dont know the manufacturer of the rack, but it does allow full hub lock at the wheels. needed it too... the track we ran at saturday is about 75x40! car was very good, better than my 415 the night before.

need to spend more time with this car, tho... havent run it but once since i got it 6+ months ago. need to get rid of some noise tho... its shimmed well, and veeeery freespinning, but i think its one of those superhard spurs making it loud.

Some of the noise is just because it don't have gear cases like the TC3 and Pro4 have to muffle the noise some. Mine is very free but still sounds like a sweeper but no drag so I don't care. Also lets the guys know I'm coming up on them and it is even better when they know I'm faster and they can hear me getting closer and closer on every lap.

Lucky you with the steering rack. The I would say for an r3 is the most important hopup part.

yea, my R2 is a little quieter, i think some is prolly the spur.... its a real thin, hard one.

i thought it was a great deal, all those hopups for like $60. and it hadnt been used!

Yes it does have that "SPECIAL" sound... but I have found that most of the noise comes from to things....
1)Spur Gear...(if to hard)
2) Bevel Gear...(shimming is very important.) one shim to much or to little and you will have a noise generator on your hands

true... my Pal R2 wasnt too bad, but this 3 is more. it has one of those really thin hard spurs on it, dont remember the brand, RW i think. makes mucho noise! the same brand of spur makes my 415 noisy, too...

The best I have used is Kimbrough and Kawada

My R3 isn't too loud but you know most shaft cars have sounds all of their own. I wonder how the Tamiya EVO4 compares in sound to the R3 as they both have the open gear setup.

my Evo IV is actually very quiet, more like my Pro 4. a very small amount of gear noise, but overall, pretty decent.

im gonna switch out spurs and see if that helps. if not, the "fish bait" will just have to hear me coming up on them!!!!!
