ARCMCC proposal for Offroad Stock Class

ARCMCC proposal for Offroad Stock Class
AARCMCC has just released what they see as the future for Offroad Stock class racing in Australia.
I quote ...
"The following points has been put forward for finalisation at the end of October, and implementation in January 2011:
Motor – 17.5 Brushless / 24 deg brushed (no change here).
Control ESC – A list of approved ESCs will be compiled from current and past models. These will be zero timing, non turbo ESCs. The starting list will be released at the beginning of October, and Clubs can submit additional models for approval before January 2011.
Batteries – Lipo & LiFe Batteries from the approved lists with a maximum capacity of 5600 Mah (no change here).
Stock classes to be extended to 6 minute races"
This means that Stock racers will not be able to use any of the ESC's that have the ability to increase timing. Even though these ESC's now have a NO TIMING software available with indicating light (ROAR system) they will not be allowed.
This proposal will be put out to the clubs and State bodies for a vote. However, clubs should realise that a no reply from a club is a vote in favour of the proposal.
Some things to maybe consider with this proposal:
* Racers will have to buy a new ESC if you have a timing ESC
* There will be a rush to buy 17.5 motors with high inbuilt timing (although AARCMCC say they might ban these motors as well)
* The proposal only offers one solution for a vote
Personally I feel that the vote should have two options available:
Option 1 is as per the AARCMCC proposal
Option 2 could be:
* No timing on ESC's but all ESC's allowed if they can run a non timing software that can be verified by flashing light (as per ROAR)
* A 12 month period to see that it is workable (decison made for 2012 to continue this way)
Option 2 would mean a large number of racers would not need to buy anything new to continue racing
Remember under the current rules a no reply is a vote in favour of the proposal.
Lets open it up to discussion again.
What are your thoughts?
I should make it clear that I am not opposed to introducing a NON TIMING stock class

I'm a vote for Option 2. Be more cost effective for the racers that have the "whizzo" ESC's already , and can easily upgrade the software to have zero ESC timing.
And we will implement any AARCMCC stock motor/ESC rules at the 2011 version of the Keilor Stock Shootout
Cheers

I'm a fan of option 1, as this to me brings stock back close to what it used to be (minus the ability to tune a motor with brushes etc).

After seeing the speed difference at the Townville nats I vote for option 2.
2wd buggies wheel standing in stock with this boost esc?? wtf.
Boost esc were 10 - 15 car lenghts faster on the straights, jumping the triples with ease compared to the standard stock systems struggled, just didnt seem fair to me as they had the speed of a 10.5.
Vote for 2 to bring back fair racing and keep stock a cheaper alternative, especially for all the people that can't afford to update there current stock setup and also gives people that currently have a boost esc to use it with stock settings, can't be fairer than that.

I just think that if an ESC has no timing available it will stop people putting in "just a little bit" and help bring stock back to stock. But what ever the result it will be better than the super charged stock classes I witnessed in Townsville at the Nats.

3rd option allow all type of timing EXCEPT dynamic (RPM based) and Turbo ( throttle based)
this means that we WON"T enter a motor war, we can just run any 17.5 and introduce timing to the ESC,
BUT
this won't happen as the reason why the rules are changing(IMO) is MONEY, everyday racers don't buy 3 or 4 motors a season now trying to get an edge, they can run 1, (I have)
everyone agrees racing never been so cheap SO SOMEONE IS LOSING OUT and that's manufacturers,
p.s if these rules are being introduced for "newcomers" then why do RTR kits come with FAST motors 13.5, 12t, etc
