I have a question or two about servos.

1. Which servo is best suited for a SC10? Racing and bashing.

I have a Futaba 3pks with 75mhz synthesized receivers.

2. Do I need a Futaba for best results or which is best suited for me?

3. Should I buy digital, brushless, coreless, high torque, high speed, metal
gear, titanium gear.

Any help is appreciated.

I use a Futaba 9451 in my SC10 and it works great. I also use an XP 1313 in my B4 and it's also a good servo.

Any name brand digital high speed servo with over 120 oz-in of torque would serve you well in your SC10.

Any brand, standard size servo will work though futaba is a good choice IMO.

I'd look for something with ~100 oz of torque and speed of .13 or faster. Digital or brushless is good but even a good analog coreless will be fine.

And yes, metal gear

My two favorite servos are both from Team Associated or Ace Hobbies (I think both of them are under the same Thunder Tiger roof):

DS1015 - By far the best bang for your buck
DS1313 - Usually $10 to $15 cheaper then the 1015, but still has enough oomph and speed for an SC10

I've gone through 19 (yes, nineteen) Hitec 645MGs, 18 (yes, eighteen) Hitec 5990TG for my other hobby (you can probably guess from the number of servos). These servos are fine, the 5990TG is probably the best torque/dollar out there, but in RC, I definitely noticed that the transit time (speed) is very crucial since you're correcting your vehicle while it's moving at a high speed.

Split seconds counts in RC Cars IMO. I noticed a HUGE difference when I pulled out my 645MG out of my B44 and replaced it with the DS1015...

ive always went with futaba...one time i go with anything else and it burns out in 2 weeks because of electrical failure to the servo...ive always heard good about airtronics also

I have an Orion vortex servo and love it, .09 transmit time, 195oz. 84.95 can't beat the price.

porkey, thanks for the mention of the vortex servos. I just checked out the spec on all three, they are amazing for the price...

the 2015 seems like a bargain with 277 oz in of torque at the price of a ds1015.

Iv owned a bunch of different servos from jr to hitec to traxxas and a few more cheaper brands , i like jr but i always keep going back to futaba. I just picked up a futaba s9351 off of the forums for cheap and i luv it , its not as fast as my previous jr9000s but it has a built in heatsink and way more torque. I think it will suit your needs just fine , and it is ok to mix and match. So far so good though , goodluck ....

I prefer only ACE / ThnderTiger / Team Asso DS1015.

Never failed, very resistant, enough torque, quiete fast.

Use them in 1:8, 1:10 scale, off- and on-road.

Steering and throotle/brake as well.

Just my recommendation.

JR has the fastest servos out there because the under rate them but they are way too expensive. But the Futaba 9452 is the best for your money with .11 and 120oz for 80$ is plenty for 1/10 scale application. The BLS452 or BLS451 I think it is, the cheaper of the two is really fast, it is like 90$ i think and it is amazing.
