If you want to get a good magnet zapper, please check www.thunderrc.com. That's the best zapper I've used so far.
would u mind stating ur reason?

Nexus Racing already explained:

There were some DC type magnet zappers made years ago. One brand in particular comes to mind named ERP. (Endurance Racing Products). These units were made by a scam-artist who took people's money, either because he knew his units didn't work but didn't care or he was too stupid to know his magnetizers were junk. You still see them once-in-awhile on EBay. If you do, stay away from them.

Here is a quote from Tempest2000.

The ERP is a piece of junk it actually demagnetizes more than it helps.

the only reason ERP magnetizers sold...

1 marketing

2 the fantom dyno

nothing against the fantom dyno but it does like rpm more than torque.... and it doesn't actually measure torque... it's calculated.

the ERP zappers demagnetized the magnets in a motor and the increase in rpm "Looked" better on a fantom.

The motors actually lost torque and the magnets were weakened.

On a load dyno like a CE Turbo Dyno the numbers will go down after zapping with an erp zapper...

don't waste your time with an ERP...

The old saying you get what you pay for...

if so please let me know, I've got one and I wish it did it's job right.

thanks.

We looked into that many years ago to make a "patch" or fix for it.
The 12v unit was a total loss and the 110 unit would need so many changes that it would cost almost as much as a whole new unit. It just wasn't feasible...

what does the zapper actually do? i know it makes the magnets stronger but what does it do to achieve that?

just pass electricity through them?

The basic idea behind a magnetizer, is to impart a directional magnetic force upon the motor/can assembly large enough and intense enough to fully saturate the magnets. This is actually quite tricky because there are many variables in can and magnet design. For the most part, motor manufacturers all use the same magnets for their modified motors. Currently this is the FB9 series of magnets from TDK. These are a rare earth doped magnet, and consequently more difficult to magnetize/remagnetize. Many stock and 19 turn motors do not use this current technology, and therefore are easier to magnetize/remagnetize. It is not a simple thing to remagnetize a magnet. Much less a magnet assembly (this is what our cans are considered). Because of this, and the amounts of research and knowledge necessary to build a magnetizer we end up with many people "experimenting", and marketing magnetizers that just do not work properly. And for the most part these are not bad people, they are just not well enough educated on the subject.-Jeff

I had this thing like 15 years ago. For all intensive purposes it was a hunk of junk.. but it did attract metal objects when it was powered up, I remember that.
