There were quite a few in my neck of the woods initially but they soon disappeared.

Yea I'm probably the last one!
With 2 of them and parts, I should outlast the "o'donnel" life.

Yea, learning a couple new phrases. Most popular one is going to be something like "No we don't have it, but in 9-15 days we can get it for you."

Hopefully the life of needing a part and then 2 days, it arriving on your doorstep isn't going to change too much. Rather then driving an hour and a half, twice, and waiting half a month...

I don't think this is anything more than an example of how bad the world economy is right now. For the most part people don't sell things that are making good money. We will never know the details so this is all just speculation I just hope they don't go the way of OD

they only sell when the going get tough. and money is not there to continue. But atleast parts will be easy to get and you will not have an approval process to become a dealer.

Nothing wrong with internet business by no means. It's a great tool. The problem is folks sitting at home with no overhead buying from distributors. That's what will be getting the ax. Without proof of an actual store and a stong background check, it will be tough to break into this business. Trust me, there are better ways of making a living anyway.

Well, all we can do is watch it play out. I can only assume that it will help those companies grow. The question is, what exactly did they buy? I thought with all the full page ads and all the hype, that those companies were selling cars by the thousands. Maybe not so much.

But on the other side of the coin, maybe this is a big powerhouse deciding to take a calculated risk and go after the king of the industry, Traxxas.

I think it's because they had no brand of their own anymore. When OD folded it left Hobbico as a chassis less company. It was probably killing them internally that Horizon had Losi, and HRP had Durango and RC America had X-RAY and they had nothing to call their own. I love the Trump move though! "you gave the distribution rights to our main competitor?! Ok we'll just buy your company!" That's classic!

Hobbico does own Duratrax and according to this article on liverc.com is about to release a brand new 1/8th scale electric buggy:
