There is a HUGE thread on the Novak BL system..

Otherwise - I've owned the ss5800, the 5.5R, 4.5R and the 3.5R

All have worked flawlessly, with the lower turn systems having gobs of power. The only few things that were issues have pretty much been resolved car one:

Originally - the rotors were a bit weak. Not so much out of the box, but after a couple of hard heats on the verge of thermalling or thermals themselves, the rotor needed to be replaced for optimum performance. The new sintered rotor is great.

The Original solder tabs were a pain(personally speaking), the new ones make mounting a clean install easier

The problems:
The fans are weak - My fault. I regularly put my finger into the thing when i reach under teh shell to turn the car off. I replaced mine with MM racing fans and it's all good now.

Size - like ALL BL esc's. The GTB isn't small..

Otherwise, fantastic experiences.. If I were shopping for my next setup. The Novak stuff would be powering my ride for sure..

The GTB comes with all the whistles and bells fan, capacitor.
I have Been running the 4300 with the sintered rotor and its a done deal.
No more rebuilding, the dang thing wont get hot enough to kill the magnet.

I have a 5.5 with a sintered rotor.
And I kept hearing this wierd sqealing noise? But after careful study I figured out it was the carpet SREAMING!

The Novak combo is a great piece of electronics, definitely worth the money, and very very quick. I have one and absolutely love it. A lot of power and minimum maintenance, only needs bearings to be cleaned out after a club race night.

Don't get the Novak, get the LRP. The Novak has a lower heat tolerance and tends to shut off if you gear it too high. In stock class the guys at my local track have been gearing the 13.5's pretty high with the LRP and are flying but if you try to gear the same way with the Novak, it will shut down halfway through the race, not fun!

Myself and one other at our track have burnt 2 motors up with LRP, they get so hot they melt the coil winds. Went to the novak, and no more smoking motors. I think the shut of is trying to say abort over gearing abort abort.
I Like the thermol protection. 4300's is what were running.
LRP you have to buy a fan a run capacitor and all I would recommend the novak.
I would rate NOVAK a 10!

Hi guys I have heard mentioned that the wires from the GTB
to the power cap aren't to be lenghted or shortened!

Is this true? because I would like to change them to put the power
cap in a better spot on the car, at the moment it's on the top plate.
don't like it so close to the front belt.

Also are you ment to change the power cap over time?
(Does it wear? if you know what I mean!)

I've had nothing go wrong with my GTB in 8 months,
just want to stay on top of things.

Little help Charle, please.

Oden,

We don't really recommend that you lengthen the wires on your power cap at all.

Shortening those wires is ok however.

When the wires get too long the effectivness of the capacitor goes away.

Generally power caps are ok as long as they don't become dented or distended!
