KO
So I did end up getting a KO Helios. I am having some glitching issue though as someone else pointed out in the previous page. The servo (2343) seems to not want to rest and nearly constantly making twitching noise even when sitting still. Also, if I turn off the radio before I turn off the receiver (not that you should do this), the car goes crazy. Neither happend with a Airtronic set up before. Any thoughts?

Glitching: Check out the usual stuff, that is: Antenna in proper distance from noise generators (ESC+Motor+motor wires), noise caps mounted corretcly on the motor etc.

radio Choice?
Anybody running a R1 or R1 pro? I purchased mine a couple years ago used. I've enjoyed it except it really sucks the juice ouf of the batteries.

EX-10 Helios
i got my helios and i love it!!!!
in fact im in the process of selling my mars-R to get another helios.
as for glitching.. i have the 27mhz FM.. my receiver sits on top of my servo (ko propo digital servo (hi speed) 2143) with two layers of tape.
and i did put a piece of antenna pipe in between the receiver and the antenna holder (this is on a tamiya evo III surikarn edition) and i dont have any problems with glitching.
i do get the noise from my digital servo. i think its just the servo constantly adjusting itself or something. just noise i guess.
oh ya.. LOVE the tilt action for the steering wheel.. VERY NICE!

Yea, I have the noise too but not too bad. However, there are very very small movements when it makes the noise. It hasn't affected the driving though.
I think the radio noise came from a combination of motor and the chassis as I notice a lot less of it when mounting the gears in my RC10 B4. The motor on the RC10 is also heavily capacitored. I also wonder if the ESC plays a part in this as I think the noise is less with a GT7 than with LRP quantum.

R1- future Synth Module
I hope it'll work on the original R1 as well as the PRO. Radio systems are too expensive to just upgrade all the time. Especially if you have several cars and possibly might ahve to replace recievers and such. I only have (1) channel right now cause I'm too cheap to buy more crystals. But the mod would motivate me to have a couple extra reciever Crystals.

helios fail safe?
Can a Helios owner provide an answer on this issue?
I'm using a Futaba 3PJs in PCM mode for my nitro cars because it has a built-in fail safe and will put the throttle servo to a set position if there is a conflicting signal. Although PCM may be slow, it's better than the alternative...a bunch of pieces.
I understand that the new Futaba 3PK can accomplish the same "fail safe" protection using the HRS mode. I've always used KO for my electric cars and would like to continue to use KO for my nitro cars as well. Can the Helios can provide a fail safe function now that HRS is an option?
Thanks,
Ralph

Gee, looks like I killed this thread with my question!
I called KO, the Helios does not provide a failsafe function.
It's lighter than the Mars and has 3 "speed" options: Advanced HSR (new receiver), HSR (Mars R receiver) and standard (Mars '297 receiver). Very nice!
