there is a problem with my motor on my rustler. it takes for ever to start, the glow plug it good and i think it is getting plenty of fuel because some of it comes out the exhaust evey now and then. when it does get running after about 3 minutes of off and on trying to start it with out burning out the hand held starter it finally starts but wont stay running if i let off the throttle. Any thought.

i have tried leaning it out i have tried different carbs, new fuel lines, different glow plugs nothing seems to work. i bought it off a second hand owner so i dont know really how bad the truck was ran.

try replacing the fuel tank. the fuel filter might be clogged a little bit.
the same thinig happened to my old jato and the fuel filter was clogged.

try rebuilding the motor.

is the flywheel easy to turn all the way around? if so, you have lost compression in your motor and you will need to buy a new piston and sleve and break the motor in again.

check your clutch!
make sure the sping isn't streched out and nothing is coming in contact w/ your gear

take the motor appart and check out those bearings...

well i can tell you all something, my fuel tank is fine there is nothing wrong with it, there is a new fuel tank, there is nothing wrong with the clutch, and there is also nothing wrong with the bearings on the crank or anything to do with the motor. the motor turns over with a hard spot at the top like it should. my personal opinion is i think that the piston sleeve is to wide at the very bottom of the stroke so it is creating blow by. thats my opinion. i think aslo it might be the carb but i have returned everything to factory settings and the motor is stock.

Hi to all out there. Just wondering if anyone out there can tell me the correct running temp for a traxxas nitrorustler, trx 2.5 motor.
Mines running 200f + . It blows good smoke on throttle, slightly rich and runs well but i got that nagging feeling its just too hot.
any help is great.
