Hey Guys,

I've got a Problem with my diff. I must set it very tight to prevent the spur from slipping.

First I cleaned every part of the diff. Then rebuild the diff. After that I sanded the pressure disks, checked the ball bearings and rebuild the diff again. But nothing helped. Any recommendations what could cause such a behavior?

I could realy need some help.

Good night

Diff lube is important, standard grease will not grip.

Diff balls are new in your rebuild? You may be tightening on the gear and not the diff balls if they are worn.

You might need to replace the two concave washers that apply the retension pressure in your diff. Or have you replaced those too?

It is a new class at my local track and would like to recommend a setup for them to start(that is easy to drive and fast enough).

I currently don't race the class.

Thanks!
Yep, start with an F103.

If you're set on running the F104 (TCS Carpet?), get it low, get Pit Shimizu's if not TCS, if TCS then of course Option soft rears and Med or Hard fronts for what they are worth.

I've had best luck with a firmer setup for the rear, tighter T plate setting and damper plate pressure cuz too much bite and it traction rolls (it does that anyway but less this way for me).

I'm not the fastest F104 carpet guy but it goes ok I guess.

I just chimed in cuz some of the others haven't yet.

If you are having traction rolling issues on carpet you might want to try the 1/12th and WGT trick of coating the sidewalls of the tires with CA glue.

@F_N_CUDA: I replaced the diff balls, too. But the idea of the greas sound good. I used the grease which came with the kit. I might try any other. Do you have some that you prefer?

@gashuffer: You mean the washers between the ball bearing and the spacer & nut? I give it a try!

and for these light duty diff's I would agree with him too. Just ensure you use the tube with Black writing on it (not Red) ....
